Arky beats App's 2014 FBS Single Game Fewest Yds Allowed

Unread post by T-Dog » Tue Dec 30, 2014 1:00 am

App's 62-yard defensive effort versus Georgia State was the best single-game total versus an FBS opponent in 2014 up until tonight when the Piggies held Texas to 59 total yards.

Also, so far, only six teams had multiple shutouts in 2014. Stanford, LSU, Alabama, Georgia, Ohio State and App State.

Arkansas also had multiple (and consecutive) shutouts against LSU and Ole Miss :o

Texas helped to reinforce the opinion that the Bowl system is out of hand. They were "rewarded" for a, uh, .500 season? Got stomped, gained less than 60 yards and finished the season with a 6-7 record. What a joke. There is NO WAY a team should be in a position to finish a season with a sub .500 record with a bowl loss. I have only watched bits and pieces of a few bowls but I have noticed that at many games there are tons of empty seats. I mentioned on another thread that the Bahamas Bowl was a ridiculous venue. I have to question the reported attendance of 13,667. Heck of finish to a game but the attendance was horrible.

Pretty good company we keep. The improvement in the defense over the course of this season was truly remarkable.

I sure wouldn't complain if App were in the Bahamas Bowl, and I'll wager the players and coaches wouldn't either.
