They said open practices and the spring game were TBD, very sneaky.mtnjax wrote:App Sports twitter was saying TBD after Tommy Bowman tweeted that out
Spring practice has been the subject of many headaches in the athletics office. They've gone over several options (on an off mountain) and it was hinted it might be earlier than normal this year. They have to juggle a lot of different events together and things out of their control can change.
For instance, there was a student appreciation event planned either this past year or the year before, but then the orientation people changed their schedule around and screwed those plans up.

I just want to know why we start it so early ever year. With our weather you would think we would start as late as possible.
When will "It's better than what we had" no longer be good enough for App State?

Spring practice should be in the...I don't know...spring.

Maybe the coaches want to get spring practice out of the way so they can focus a little longer on strength and conditioning prior to fall.

Satterfield gave some pretty good reasons for it in one of the articles this week. A big one was giving S&C a solid 4 months to work on these guys. Another is to give a little more time for the inevitable injuries to heal up. There were other logical reasons, but I can't remember them all.

The earlier Satt. and staff knows what kind of issues we may have, the more time they'll have to work on and around them. I like the idea. Satterfield is getting after it, good for him.

I read that in the WSJ a few days ago and it made perfect sense. I'm glad Satterfield is willing to let "us" in on the reasoning.AppinATL wrote:JTApps1 wrote:I just want to know why we start it so early ever year. With our weather you would think we would start as late as possible.
