Great articles. Thanks W-S Journal. I'm especially impressed with the innovative spring schedule, which gives Coach Sirignano four complete months to strengthen both body and mind. I tell ya, I'm really optimistic about next year, and I know I've got the "cart before the horse," but I can't wait for the Clemson game. I think we're going to make it INTERESTING! Go App!

Did Tacoi Sumler receive an extra year of eligibility?

He graduated, has another year of eligibility with us and could have transferred to a grad school without sitting out a year. Guess he's looking to get draftedGonzo wrote:Did Tacoi Sumler receive an extra year of eligibility?

Didn't he JUST score his first career TD at the end of the season? If he thinks he's getting drafted, he's high.

If he runs his advertised 40 time at the combine, you can bet someone will take him. These NFL types are completely mesmerized by numbers.Gonzo wrote:Didn't he JUST score his first career TD at the end of the season? If he thinks he's getting drafted, he's high.

Re: Off-Season Articles on Workouts and Recruiting
Doubt he gets drafted no matter what his 40 times, but you never know. More likely he can get a camp invite from someone, and that's his opportunity to chase his dream.
Sounds like a case where the guy was just ready to graduate and get on with his career, whether in football or elsewhere. Good luck to him.

Re: Off-Season Articles on Workouts and Recruiting
That was the only reason I could think of that he would go, and I think he's a smart enough guy to realize that. With that said if he still runs a 4.2 after 2? knee injuries, and a couple? surgeries id be surprised but best of luck to himApp91 wrote:If he runs his advertised 40 time at the combine, you can bet someone will take him. Re: Off-Season Articles on Workouts and Recruiting
I always liked Sumler and hope the best for him whatever he chooses. However, from a football perspective, he did his duty in the role but I never saw that "it" factor that make him stand apart from many of our other WRs. I saw Dexter Jackson's speed on numerous occassions but with Tacoi I never saw the raw speed that had been advertised.

Re: Off-Season Articles on Workouts and Recruiting
Well the only reason those tweets showed up on my feed was because Tacoi RTed them, which makes me feel like he's at least considering playing another year of college football.
Why make of spectacle of getting another year if you're set on the NFL or a normal job?
I might be reading too much into it.

Re: Off-Season Articles on Workouts and Recruiting
From reading the previous tweets on that feed, it appears he's talking about eligibility for the NFL Draft, not for another year of college. The guy is just distinguishing between players who declared early for the draft without graduating and those who declared who had football eligibility remaining but have graduated.Gonzo wrote:Well the only reason those tweets showed up on my feed was because Tacoi RTed them, which makes me feel like he's at least considering playing another year of college football.

I see. Looks like I didn't read too much into it. Quite the opposite.EastHallApp wrote:From reading the previous tweets on that feed, it appears he's talking about eligibility for the NFL Draft, not for another year of college. Re: Off-Season Articles on Workouts and Recruiting
would have been nice to have Sumler for the extra year but I think we are going to be pretty set at wideout. If the blazing speed was still there why didn't he return kicks? What does our completely unofficial depth chart look like at the receiver position?

So spring practice will start Feb 7. Has there been an announcement on the spring game? Will there be one?

With the release of this article, let me take this time to shamelessly plug the 700 Club fundraiser for our S&C program. For those of you fortunate enough to receive a tax refund, please keep our fundraiser in mind. It would be awesome if we were able to reach our goal before the conclusion of spring practice so that Coach Iron Mike will have 4 full months to utilize the new equipment.

Re: Off-Season Articles on Workouts and Recruiting
I had given everyone a bit of a break since Christmas and knowing that the credit card bills are coming out now with the usual sticker shock but was just about to bump the thread back to the top and start hitting twitter again now that tax refund (for some) season is upon us. Time to get the drive back in high gear and make a serious push to the finish. And hopefully we can get an updated total since we know it's higher than shown, just not exactly how much. Working on that.moonshine wrote:With the release of this article, let me take this time to shamelessly plug the 700 Club fundraiser for our S&C program.
