Official Proud Rooster prediction thread

Unread post by bigCasu » Wed Sep 26, 2012 7:16 pm

We can break down last Saturday’s win over Chattanooga down in three phases. The first phase included the Appalachian team that appeared to be as bad as the team that played the week before. The second phase included a team that we had seen before: a feisty bunch that was going to play tough defense and fight to win a game. The final phase included the basic ingredients of an opportunistic defense and an offense that makes teams pay for their mistakes. Chattanooga made quick work of Appalachian with its early 10-0 lead, but the Mountaineer defense was strong enough to keep the deficit at ten, and not let it expand to fourteen points. Part of that was due to the ineptitude of an offensive attack by the Mocs, something that has plagued them in the Russ Huesman years. His teams have either been able to run or pass, but generally not excel at both aspects of offensive football. It was evident that the younger Huesman, Jacob, had some straight line speed and escapability, but was never able to really find a groove. Terrell Robinson did not see significant time outside of a couple snaps at wide receiver until the game was decided. Last week, the Mountaineers won, but they didn’t do it alone. They had a lot of help from the other sideline as well.

Nice job Big C....as always.

I'm hoping we come out with just as big a chip on our shoulder as we did last week and the D plays as well. Time to take the home field back. I see Dufort is still missing but Lamm and Chisholm are back on the 2 deep. Hopefully that will help push a good running game and allow Price, Jones, and the rest to stretch the field. Hillary is playing well and could be a problem but we face this type of offense every day in practice so we just need to get back to smash mouth, never let up D and run them into the ground on O. JUST DON'T COME OUT FLAT!!!!!

After four games we have somewhat of an idea of what kind of team we have. At the same time, we don't (if that makes any sense). Postal Carolina is a fairly decent team, they beat Vermin in triple overtime. Therefore, I put them along the same level as Vermin, fElon and Sammy. With that said, I'd say come Saturday evening we will have a better understanding of where we stand.

Charles, I love reading your posts every week and would really miss them if you did not do them. Thank you and your family for last weekend in Chattanooga. You really made me feel like a part of the "Appalachian Family" as has everyone else. You have a special place in my heart as you did in Bill's. Thank you again for being there for my family and me. Yosefs big bore muzzle loader is perfect for bringing down big, slow, flight-impaired beach chickens. The question will be, how much meat is left when the beach chicken gets hit by the large calibre projectile. Look for Yosef to be dining on Chicken Soup instead of Chicken Breast Saturday night.

Well I can't decide if App is going to block a FG or XP but I think we'll see Special Teams make a play this weekend so I'll go with XP to make the final:

Moonshine - 41
Sunshine - 23

I'm not sure I should be predicting anymore wins. The team seems to play better when I predict a loss.
