Any of you guys getting glimpses of Spring (BRRR..LOL) practice? Really interested to hear how Rubino looks. I completely understand that we are "talking about practice" but still. Has the kid had opportunities to show off the leg? How about the JC guys? Any of them on campus and practicing? Needs a football fix!

Maybe Sat has the Golden Ticket and doesn't want anybody to know yet. ;)

I don't live around Boone and so haven't seen practice, but as far as the jucos, we know the four early enrollees were Rubino, Mondo Williams, Zi Letman and Collin Reed, so those would be the new guys who are practicing now. There was some audio from SS on the official site following the first practice, but I'm not sure they've done any more since.

I have not seen practice but from what has been relayed to me:

-Mondo will be vying for a starting spot
-Letman only got to practice once or twice before sustaining a leg injury, think Deltron has been sidelined by injury too
-Reed (impact freshman) has been practicing really well as has Norwood on the defensive side of the ball.
-I asked about Rubino and was told that they haven't put a lot of special teams work in just yet (I heard this last week so things could have changed by now).
-I believe they have left Nunn on the right side of the line and Devante has been seeing time at LT (don't quote me on this).
-Parker Collins is still starting at center. Edge-Campbell has been seeing reps but is struggling a bit with the snap (apparently getting better every day but still lacks consistency)
-Bronson and Fernandez are being held out from injuries sustained last season
-Cox is taking it easy and Upshaw, Boyd (supposedly the fastest RB on the roster) and others are getting more reps since they know what they have in Marcus
-I believe Blair is also taking it easy healing up from last year and the coaches know what they have in RB so others are getting the additional reps.
-Collmar is still seeing action at DT
-Exford is seeing some time in the secondary and seems to be playing well (dark horse impact freshman)

I'm sure I've forgotten some notes of interest but that's what I've heard so far.

Hey that is good stuff. Saw ASU TV piece but it is good to hear some eye witness accounts. The cool thing about redshirt freshmen is the newness. Many of us start hearing names that we haven't necessarily heard before. I really like the "impact freshman" description. Could be a name heard for 4 years.

Yeah, we went and watched some of the first time practice when we were in boone and saw Hopkins limp off of the field after returning punts. Lewis and sims were taking the other punt return duties for what we saw. Lamb didn't get a lot of reps in the practice we watched but Caruso has a cannon. He seemed to get some low snaps (could have been Campbell) and had a tendency to overthrow his reciever....usual for a first practice. Other than that it was very fast paced and seemed to be a lot of energy.

When did Collins move to center? I thought Chapman was holding down that position.

Sorry hap, I think you're correct. It is Chapman, not Collins. Good catch!

Here's something interesting... George Vinson (once a big time LB recruit from '13) has spent some time with the TEs.

Collins did practice at center last year when Chapman had a concussion. If Tobias keeps struggling at center don't be surprised to see Collins taking reps at center.

It would be nice if he turned out as good as William Mayfield was when he made the switch.

I've heard Vinson is a FB/HB now. I'd like to see him on the D but he would be a beast on offense.

Then it seems the coaches would like him to be this year's version of Drew Bailey for blocking purposes.

His twitter account says fullback now.

It's always good to have a fullback with a linebackers nasty attitude and love of contact. He could pick up right where Bailey left off (which would be a huge accomplishment).
