I think that the schedule makers will put Southern in Boone on Nov 28. Conference Championship could be on the line. Southern plays Georgia the week before so it could be difficult for them to get up emotionally two weeks in a row.

Can anyone fathom the excitement and anticipation if the Nov. 28 date came down to ASU/Stink for the SBC championship?? In KBS?? There could be 35K there!!AppSt94 wrote:I think that the schedule makers will put Southern in Boone on Nov 28. Conference Championship could be on the line. We don't slide at Appalachian State. It's a sign of weakness.

When the schedule comes out only the two Tuesday night TV games will be announced, the Thursday games will be announced later.
I'd like to avoid a Tuesday game, but with three of the prime opponents coming to Boone that could be difficult to avoid.

Thanksgiving weekend though. How about the stink in Boone Sat Dec 5th, 3:30pm on ESPN. Now that would rock and get 35k.scatman77 wrote:Can anyone fathom the excitement and anticipation if the Nov. 28 date came down to ASU/Stink for the SBC championship?? In KBS?? Yeah, GaSo at App on November 28 would actually be bad. There would be few to no students there, since they would all be home for Thanksgiving, and fewer than usual fans there due to the holiday weekend and travel plans.luvyosef wrote:Thanksgiving weekend though. I'd either shoot for December 5 or Halloween. A Halloween game on ESPN would be a sight to see.

I think we get at least one Thursday game in Boone. Agree that a Tuesday game would kind of suck. The schools should get some say in that, right?Saint3333 wrote:When the schedule comes out only the two Tuesday night TV games will be announced, the Thursday games will be announced later.

Re: 8 days until schedule is released.
I don't disagree that Thanksgiving weekend would be less than ideal, but it's all about the ratings. The following week would be ideal but would ESPN allow it?
Re: 8 days until schedule is released.
bottom line is they have to schedule that game at the end of the season, if that game is anywhere near the middle to the front of the schedule, someone in the scheduling dept. should lose their job.

Replacing 4 starting Oline I wouldn't mind catching them early.
There are going to be some disappointed fans when this thing is released, no matter what it says.

Re: 8 days until schedule is released.
I would rather beat them late. No excuses then. Besides, getting them the week after they play Georgia isn't a bad trade off.
Re: 8 days until schedule is released.
I wouldn't be surprised if they started scheduling us two as the last game (rivalry week) every year. Or maybe the next to last if the last falls on Thanksgiving weekend.

I think some of us might be loooking at this from a bit too much of an App/GSU-centric perspective. Who's to say that game is going to determine the league title? Certainly ULL, A-State and possibly others could be in the mix.
Plus, I expect the SBC and ESPN would like some good games to drive ratings earlier in the season too.

Re: 8 days until schedule is released.
Pretty much summed up what I was thinking. Were all being a little naive if we don't think ULL and stAte will be in the hunt. Back to the possibility of hosting a Tuesday night game. It would certainly be inconvenient but it would be incredibly positive for our program if we put 24k+ in the stands. It would take several thousand ticket holders taking time off from work and putting 10k students in the stands but think about the possibility to show our program to the nation and potential recruits.EastHallApp wrote:I think some of us might be loooking at this from a bit too much of an App/GSU-centric perspective. Re: 8 days until schedule is released.
No argument that Arkansas St and ULL will have something to say about the outcome. When it comes to scheduling what the network can sell plays a part in the discussion.
Re: 8 days until schedule is released.
unless we have some unfortunate happen (injuries, knuckle heads doing something stupid and getting kicked off the team etc.) there is no reason for us and GS not to be in serious contention for the title. If I'm making the schedule for 6-10 months down the road, I'm going to do the smart thing, play the odds, and try to schedule the teams against each other I believe will be in contention late into the season. If we don't get GS late in the season, then there is not reason not to atleast get Ark State, ULL or maybe both in late Oct or Nov.

Re: 8 days until schedule is released.
I just ask for 2 things;
1. No Tuesday night games. That would force me to take Wednesday off and still go back to work Thursday. I don't mind Thursday games so much. I can take Friday off and have a long weekend at my house.
2. Away game for the Saturday after Thanksgiving.

Re: 8 days until schedule is released.
I have a strong feeling we'll be rolling into Boone about the same time of the season when we traveled up there in SoCon play, which has historically been around the 3rd weekend in October.

I have no problem with our game always being the third Saturday in October.

Re: 8 days until schedule is released.
So how would Louisiana or StAte feel about playing in Boone in late Nov/early Dec?
