You would think this wouldn't be terribly difficult to benchmark. Other schools have been doing this for years so I certainly hope we aren't trying to figure this out by ourselves as there's a wealth of information detailing successes and failures out there - all we gotta do is ask. This could help fans decide whether Thursday games are worth driving up the mountain for going forward. We need whatever plan we come up with to be a successful one with great execution.

This is just one reason why I think we need a parking deck build on the site of old Winkler Dorm. It could be large enough to hold the cars at State Farm along with overflow for these situations. We could then build a track on the current student lot at State Farm.

Here's what Georgia Southern did, although they had more room to maneuver.

Main stadium lot didn't allow new student parking after Noon, towed after 2 pm and allowed tailgating at 4 pm.
5 pm for allowing cars to park would be a logistical nightmare. It has to be earlier. 2 pm should be absolute latest cut-off for cancelling classes.
Cutting short tailgate time = binge drinking

It is no where near the same situation. The lots that GS uses are nearly all Visitor or Commuter Parking Lots. No Faculty/Staff have to move there cars due to early games so that Univ. services disruption is cut to a minimum. None of the residential lots have to be cleared.
At ASU, the Faculty/Staff lots @ Raley, Dunkin, Rankin, Holmes, JET, Library, University Drive(food services main parking) all have to be cleared. Staff that park in these lots either have to fight for what is left or Take Vacation Time and leave early. The library and Food Services have to remain open during the games for students that need to eat and study.
Lots at the dorms on the Stadium side of campus have to be cleared of cars of students that live on campus and have to be at class the next morning. Are they expected to go get there cars at 1am after the Appalcarts have quit running?
While not in your post, if we were to cancel classes at noon on a Thursday, it would result in ~90 classes being canceled in departments starting with the letter A alone.
