CFP Payouts

Unread post by JTApps1 » Wed May 06, 2015 7:20 pm

These figures were posted in the Sun Belt board yesterday. The increase in payouts compared to the BCS is huge. Note how much the MWC recived this year with Bosie State making the Fiesta Bowl.

Well, the gap between the Sun Belt and the AAC, MAC, & CUSA is not as great as I would have expected.

JTApps,
This is why each conference should be looking for the best football programs and not just look at towns in which they are located. Teams like App can be a real boost to their respective conferences and pay dividends down the road.

Not only do we need the best teams to join we also need to make sure we don't have the worst teams. Our payout was the lowest (although not much less than all but MWC) becasue we had 3 of the worst teams in the nation. Voting out Idaho and NMSU would help the league rating and lower costs. There really is no reason to have them in the league.

Also note the Sun Belt payout was lower due to having only 11 teams. If we had 12 teams our conference total would have been over $13,000,000. The payout per school would not change though.

Remember, we wont get a full cut of that 1+ million dollar payout, but only half of that, which is much more than spending to host FCS playoff games.

Each Sun Belt is slotted to get $1,087,586. Big C brought up a good point that we (as well as GS) only get half this year due to being transitional. We will get the full payout going forward which will vary each year depending on the leagues performance. Most years it will be a little over $1 mil with the potential to be $2 mil+ if we have a team in an access bowl.

Much better deal than we ever had in FCS.

We get the money whether we play post season or not. And it is only 1 game of expenses, unlike the FCS where there was a possibility of 2,3,4 games (for team and fans).
