Question for Moose and others
I don't keep up with recruiting like some of you guys but if I recollect, last year at this time, I could have sworn that we had 4 or 5 commits by this time. This year, I definitely like the one commit that we have (looks like a heck of a qb) but what is the deal ? Are we going after higher rated recruits and being more patient or are there some other factors of which I am not aware ? Just interested ................

Re: Question for Moose and others
Hate to respond to myself (although my wife will tell you different) but just noticed that we are one of only about 11 teams that only have 1 commit at this time along with teams like Georgia State, ULM, Troy, Fresno State, MTSU, Wyoming, UTEP, Kent State, North Texas, and New Mexico. So, we are not alone !

Re: Question for Moose and others
This time last year we had 2 commits (Daniel David-June 18th, and Brody Barrett-June 19th). The next one that stayed was Collin Reed (July 14th). Curtis Nixon committed on June 28 but later decommitted and ended up at Citadel on signing day. Last year and even more this year we are really trying to get kids on a campus and Boone visit so they can truly understand the area and what they should expect before committing.
We don't want place holders. I've mentioned this before but many G5's that have multiple commits right now, a lot of those players will not be there come signing day. They commit until a better offer comes along. But that also prevents that school from taking a player at the same position if that place holder is in the way. With App we're working hard to get recruits who really want to be here and it would normally take a P5 offer to pull them away, not another G5. From the audio interview with Coach Sloan posted on the Scout site this morning the staff is exactly where they want to be right now.

"And others" chiming in. This is also a good time to be showing the App State love on Twitter (just retweet Mike and the Moose if nothing else). Recruits want to be where there are enthusiastic fans. They measure that enthusiasm, in part, through Twitter.

Re: Question for Moose and others
To your point Daph anyone with a twitter account just go and look up Jaquize Cross. His twitter handle is @_JQuizz_ . He is a DT we had offered who committed to Kentucky today. He posted he had a big announcement and just look at the explosion from #BBN (Big Blue Nation for those who don't know). Not only did they retweet and favorite posts, they posted things like "#BBN really needs @_JQuizz_ Go show him some love". Plus they had people posting directly to him telling him to choose UK. Dozens of posts in just a few minutes. And the Purdue fans were doing the same since he had just been offered by them as well. All of them except the retweet and favorite of his first "announcement" post were technically a violation, but he retweeted every one of them.DaphneUrquhart wrote:"And others" chiming in. As hard as it is for some to understand, in today's world this show on social media is no different than we were as kids looking for validation from our parents and peers for something we did or said. Only instead of someone saying it with their voice they say it with an internet posting. And it does make a difference to them.
Again, I'm not suggesting that we break the rules, even if many of our rival schools fans are technically doing it. But retweeting and hitting favorite on a post isn't doing that (or as Daph said above RT and favorite posts from myself, Mike, and David at ASM) and it will show them that App Nation cares just as much as those other schools. It's just the world we live in, like it or not.
