Best parking for non Yosef club members?
I have a buddy coming into to town for Homecoming and I am not sure where to send him for parking. I am in the Duncan lot and was wondering what are the best lots near Rivers Street and what the prices were like.

Glad you guys were able to work this out, but the original question is a good one. From time to time folks who are not in the Yosef Club ask me about parking. What are some options for them? I notice the Lutheran Church on the edge of campus charging for parking. Are there better options?

The County health services (not sure about the name, for you oldtimers like me, it's the old Winn-Dixie on the west end of downtown) I believe is free and there is a shuttle bus that runs to campus.

From top of the library deck, I have seen available spots in the Baptist church lot, though I am not sure about their tailgating rules. I also saw a lot tucked behind Mountaineer Mania selling spots. It looked like a neat place to set up and tailgate. It's tucked in among the trees, but surprisingly there a good number of spots.

The last time I parked in the Baptist lot they were charging $10 a car and that was 2007 I think. I think you can tailgate, but I am not sure of the rules on certain beverages. These are Baptists. The Lutheran Church does ask for a donation, and I have never said no to them, I guess you could park there for free. At the Montana game, they mentioned the campus Lutheran group was raising money for a trip (to Germany maybe, or Guatemala. It was a "G" country it seems. Maybe Grenada or Ghana of Gabon.) If you come up 421 the Lutheran church is nice to get out of town and it gives you an excuse to walk through campus. I know the Lutheran church was letting some use a grill. I am not sure about certain beverages here either, but being Lutherans they may be a bit more open to these beverages.Appsolutely wrote:Glad you guys were able to work this out, but the original question is a good one. I've been told it's the Social Services building but I'm not sure.... it is down Rivers St. Pass everything like you're going back to 105... and up on a hill on the right is a large parking area. It's free parking and the shuttle runs there. I haven't ever had to wait on a shuttle... and they drop you off beside the band building... very short walk to the Stadium Parking Lot.

I park at the Lutheran Church. Easy in and out and can pay whatever I please, or have. It's a bit of a walk to the Rock, but its the only time I get to visit campus, so I don't mind it at all. No alcohol there though, it's a church.

The Baptist Student Union, behind Mountaineer Mania is a great spot. They offer access to their buliding (nice bathrooms) and tailgate as you'd like, just be respectful and clean up after your self. We use the back half of their parking for every game and all of the money goes to their missions fund. 89 used to park with us there and even paid a visit last week, I'm sure he would vouch for them as well.

Where do you park in the Library deck? Come say hey this weekend! I am the in the corner of the first outdoor level by the back stairwell. I love meeting new App fans..AppinVA wrote:From top of the library deck, I have seen available spots in the Baptist church lot, though I am not sure about their tailgating rules. Appreciate all the suggestions and will let those who haven't joined the Yosef Club (yet) know.

Unfortunately, I haven't been able to get to a game this year, and the prospects don't look good going forward. Thanks for the offer, though. I'll keep it in mind.AppStateCentral wrote:Where do you park in the Library deck? Come say hey this weekend! I am the in the corner of the first outdoor level by the back stairwell. Re: Best parking for non Yosef club members?
We have half season tickets and park at the First Baptist Church each week. The rate used to be $10, but has gone up to $20 as most lots closer to town and campus. There is always beverages of choice in this lot. For the Montana game there was a group of students in the church lot that didn't have any food, just drink and were very drunk by game time. Didn't bother us as we had our drink of choice too.

The best place to park for non Yosef members is the couch at home.

But seriously, Parking is a problem. I live far enough away that if I got in the area it wouldn't stop me from going to a game but I know people that live in the area that won't go to games because of the hassles and walking distance. Yes, most are old but...
Someone mentioned in another thread that we don't need anymore seats. They are right.

Tim lives in Dayton, OH. That's why he can't come to the games a lot.Apptiger wrote:Okay, I am just going to say it....bh2oson wrote:I have a buddy coming into to town for Homecoming and I am not sure where to send him for parking. Re: Best parking for non Yosef club members?
Sorry 89, wasn't directed at him. Just a smart comment about a discussion had on here a long time ago.
Build a new place with more parking and maybe better access or jam it all into the current spot.
If he makes a game anytme from that far away is great. I am about 12 hours away and haven't been able to fit one in since 2007.
By the way, leaving it all where it is easily won the discussion. If my memory is working that is.
