3 DAYS!

Unread post by GreatAppSt » Wed Sep 02, 2015 2:02 pm

I want to thank everyone who has followed along this year and those willing to give out thumbs up, you're all aces. It may be silly but I do enjoy them for the effort. What you may not know is that the countdown was very close to not going on this year, I had seriously considered calling it quits.

After moving me up to Indianapolis last Apr my Mountaineer babe of 25 years decided this year she wants to live in separate hollers about ten days before the countdown was to begin for the 17th time. Anticipating all the ups and downs, legal issues, custody, having to move again  during the countdown and being downright broken hearted, I had given up on wanting to, and thinking about the countdown to come. Believe me when I tell you it was over!

With deep concern, encouragement, and support from of some of the members here, you know who you are, at the last moment I relented on that decision. Let me say without you don't know how I would have come through this with my sanity and I may not be sane yet, but I'm on the path now. With your sage counsel I was reminded that Mountaineers are tougher than the harshest of life's circumstances. A Mountaineer's strength lies humbly in a willingness to press forward when all others shrink in sight of daunting adversity. In that spirit, I decided to stay true to what I do, what I believe in, and not wanting give up on my fellow Mountaineers the Countdown was started.

It was a rough beginning, I sometimes didn't feel like posting but continued, during the move out continued, sometimes late, and yes I even missed a few days, but the count continued. Now today as the days grow shorter it's almost complete. Time soon to turn it over to another MMB tradition Big C's countdown! On reflection I am really happy that I started, stuck it out and take some small pride in myuself that I finished strong. :D

So you almost 200 daily viewers of the GAS Countdown I'll ask you to consider pressing that thumbs up button for the next few days when you view, I'd do it for you.

From my heart.

Thank you Mountaineers.

Healing in Indiana, GAS

It may not be many but I'll still see y'all at some games this year.

Eric - Sorry to hear about your situation. Been there, done that, and it wasn't fun. Doesn't seem that long ago seeing the APPMOBILE going up old 421 from Lewisville....

Hang in there GAS. Always appreciate your countdown and give you the thumb each day. ;)

I've had a lot of personal and health problems in the last few years. I also do this searching and recruiting stuff every day of the year. I never say I know what someone is going through because every situation is different for each person but I can certainly appreciate what it takes to do things like you and I (and others too) do on this board when things are not going well in one's life. Honestly there have been a few times when I've had thoughts but I also have realized that I do this for myself as much as for the members of the board. We all love everything App. And I do what I do because of that love. I find when I'm down that it's a pickup to see when someone posts that they appreciate what I do.

Lean on your App Family. We're here for you and anyone else who needs us. That's the one common bond in this whole diverse group we have. We are one big App Family!! Stay Strong!!

GAS, I appreciate what you do for us every year with the countdown. But more importantly, I wish you all the best in getting through a tough time.
