“It’s a huge opportunity. We’ve got some momentum going into this game, going into Death Valley, playing in front of all those people,” he said. “Its’ a great opportunity, especially playing a high-caliber team like Clemson…we’re looking forward to it.”---Taylor Lamb

I listened to Dabo's teleconference (ACC's are on Sunday, Sun Belt does Monday) and after answering all the praising questions from the local writers, Steve Behr asked him about App State and Dabo was all compliments. He watched some of the Howard game live and mentioned all the returning starters and once his players see film, App will have their full attention.

From what I've heard we held back somewhat on our playbook. :D

That's the advantage in opening with a I-AA opponent.

This is true. In addition, Satterfield and Company accomplished everything they set out to do Saturday. In addition, some think Howard was a complete cupcake. However, let me tell you they are a lot better than some think, they will win a few games this season.

After watching us play on Saturday, I'd rate our performance a seven or possibly an eight on a scale of 1-10. Certainly there were lots of encouraging moments, but it's difficult to give us a higher rating primarily because of the quality of our opposition.

After watching Clemson play on Saturday, I'd rate their performance a solid 10. Like us, Clemson played an outmanned opponent. But unlike us, I saw no discernible flaws in their performance.

They will likely finish .500 vs I-AA competion.

On a side note, I wonder how much we guaranteed them from the gate and TV proceeds.

Yes, but Clemson also played an FCS and likely didn't show all of their plays.

Early prediction.. I've got Clemson 42-21. Our offense is good enough to score 21 but I think Clemson's all around speed will be too much for us to handle for 4/quarters

I agree, 21 or 21+. We should be able to double Wofford's output with our 85 scholarships and its resulting depth. I'm not sure the Tigers can hang 42 on us though unless we have an uncharacteristic amount of turnovers.

dam, I was hoping we could go into Death Valley under the radar, looks like Dabo is taking us very seriously. I watched the Wofford game, wasn't a typical Mike Ayers team, they came out throwing, and didn't seem really committed to running the ball, made it really easy for Clemson to defend.

It's hard to know a whole lot about either team based off of this week. Wofford is not the same team we knew them as. They were 6-5 last year with 2 of those wins coming again VMI and UVa Wise. Not much difference between them and Howard these days.

After watching both Wofford and Howard play last week, I saw a huge difference between the two.

Are we officially allowed to talk about Clemson now? We took care of business with Howard so hopefully that puts to rest many on this board who were afraid the team would overlook the first game.

:D

Considering both are unranked FCS teams, what was the huge difference you saw?

Guys on the board who predicted Howard would score 21 points or so should feel better about our defense. I had said that if we gave up that many points to those clowns we were in trouble

Howard had a lot of drops in their first few series. But overall I think we made adjustments and completely shut them down even if they were making every play they could.

I saw a typical Wofford wingbone team, well disciplined, methodical (yes, slow), and determined to play within its system. Clemson overwhelmed Wofford with its speed.

In Howard, I saw a nervous team that didn't lack for speed but whose major success came on misdirection plays. If the two teams were to meet on Saturday, I'd say Wofford wins 35-10. Even though the Southern Conference isn't as competitive as it once was, there's a vast different between an upper-half SoCon team and a lower-half MEAC team.

How about we all worry about what we're having for lunch today first? I get the impression some on this board are looking ahead to Clemson and aren't fully focused on Tuesday lunch.
