Apps State / Clemson WX Trends....

Playing in Death Valley is no party (been there, done that, back in the day) ... neither is the heat of of direct sunshine while sitting in the stands. Hydration will be key not only for the fans, but for the team as well....

A stationary boundary should be draped from N/NE to S/SW across the Carolina's. Clemson, by Saturday, should settle in on west side of the boundary. Proximity to the stationary boundary won't allow for a rain, or storm, chance free day. It should not be oppressively muggy. You will, however, feel some humidity with temps in the shade in the lower 80s. In direct sunlight, add another 10 to 15 degrees on the "feels like " scale and, yeah it could be taxing for those not prepared.

Long and short of it...

8 AM - Partly sunny to mostly cloudy skies 70 "ish"

10 AM - Partly sunny, mid 70s

12:20 PM - KICK OFF - Partly sunny, upper 70s.

Half Time - Partly sunny, lower 80s chance for a shower / t'storm

End of Game - Partly sunny, lower 80s, continued chance for a shower /t'storm.

I don't expect a washout, and thinking shower and storm development will be spotty at best, if anything for the game. Pack the rain gear, just in case. I'll update Thursday.

Thursday update...

A few more clouds, than my earlier expectations, are now anticipated. Lean towards a mostly cloudy day with a chance for a few showers and storms; if better conditions arrive, so be it.

I'm going for a bit more than "spotty" by the end of the game. Question is, do they fire up over Death Valley? Time will tell. Either way, pack the rain gear. Mid 80s for most of the afternoon.

Amen! Hoping the cloud cover is so dense that they need the lights. I'll also echo the "less rain" comment...though I'd probably prefer an occasional rain drop or mist scenario when compared to the thought of a sunny and hot "this is what hell must feel like" kind of afternoon.

Weather can be a great equalizer in a game like this....

Wish we could order up a surprise snowstorm.

I don't want rain, but the possibility raises an interesting question. Would rain favor Clemson or App?

Generally rain/snow can be an equalizer. Would rain eliminate some of the athletic advantages that Clemson has? It could take the crowd out of the game a bit.

Thoughts?

**FRIDAY UPDATE***

No major shift in overall forecast thinking. Still Cloudy to mostly cloudy skies with the chance for a few showers / storms (later).. for the day. Cold front will be a bit slower, than earlier expectations, moving through the "Clemson Zone". So, yeah plenty of clouds and the chance for a few showers / storms. Early kick a good thing.
