Terrance Upshaw vs Marcus Cox
I am listening to the Black and Gold podcast and they are debating the running styles and play of Marcus and Terrance.
They each have a style and they complement each other well. I say again put them in the same backfield, go old school.

I agree that I would like to see some of this especially with the H-Back position not blocking as well compared to last year. We have 5 RB that can contribute so getting them worn down shouldn't be an issue.

Re: Terrance Upshaw vs Marcus Cox
I think we'll some two back sets at some point in the season. With their difference in styles, they both have a place in App's O. I'd like to see the coaches try Upshaw at H-back, if he has the skills to lead block, for a handful of plays each game to add a new wrinkle. Definitely not saying I don't want to see him at RB behind Cox but with his speed, he'd give defenses fits from the H-back position. Have him come out and lead block on 2 or 3 plays then run play action and put Upshaw out on a wheel route against a LB or into a screen. It would give the offense another weapon with the ability to take it to the house and something else for opposing DC's to worry about.

I wish we still had George Vinson to play the H-Back position......did he end up going anywhere?

He is still on the University directory so it seems he is still a student -- just not on the team right now.boonetown1 wrote:I wish we still had George Vinson to play the H-Back position......did he end up going anywhere?

We've tried that, it lead to a whopping 1-5 start.

Let's a play a game against somebody other than Howard or Clemson before we decide.WVAppsfan wrote:But isn't the O Line better? Than last year?

Re: Terrance Upshaw vs Marcus Cox
I LOVE watching Upshaw run the ball.
One of his first carries against Michigan last year went for an explosive ~20 yards and really opened my eyes. He just looks like a powerful runner looking to take on any defender that gets in his way.
Really like Cox as well as he seems to just effortlessly slice through defenses.
Great Combo
