That's a pitiful crowd. What was Cobb thinking?

Randy Jackson commented during the game that it appeared there were more App fans than GSTate by a 2 to 1 ratio. Said the reporters covering GState commented "Dang you guys travel well".

Totally agree. I met Doug Gillin at the App-Clemson Alumni tailgate and he was very pleasant and gracious.AppDawg wrote:I am happy we have Gillin.
Several times trying to have a conversation with Charlie Cobb at different events over the years was fruitless.
Hope we beat Georgia State in every sport forever.

I'm fairly certain he was down mingling with us in the Yellow lot earlier today.sixtoes9134 wrote:Totally agree. I met Doug Gillin at the App-Clemson Alumni tailgate and he was very pleasant and gracious.AppDawg wrote:I am happy we have Gillin.

But yeah, the GSU crowd was pitiful, App was much better represented.

He was. AppState89 and I talked to him for several minutes. He's very sincere when he says he is very grateful to the fans.hotrod2001 wrote:I'm fairly certain he was down mingling with us in the Yellow lot earlier today.sixtoes9134 wrote:Totally agree. Re: Lordy
They're still there, but schools always find ways to add a buffer to their attendance so the NCAA will just let it fly. For example, EMU sells season tickets to huge corporations that never show up, just so it shows that tickets were sold. Georgia State won't be asked to drop down to FCS again, as the NCAA doesn't have the balls or the courage to do that. They're so far up ESPN and the SEC's ***es that they won't even look our way.Apptiger wrote:Wonder whatever happened to the NCAA attendance requirements to be D-1A/FBS? Will they get sent down?

That may be Cobb's piece de resistance as the GSU AD, getting corporations to buy out blocks of tickets to bolster attendance numbers.8993 wrote:They're still there, but schools always find ways to add a buffer to their attendance so the NCAA will just let it fly. Re: Lordy
Benson is probably giving GSU a pass since they're in the 9th largest city in the country. Their attendance is terrible but the Georgia Dome serves as a very nice home-away-from-home to many of their opponents. Namely us, Georgia Southern and Air Force. It's like every other Atlanta team minus the Falcons...everyone goes there to see the other team.

Re: Lordy
I'm guessing most if not all their fans were at the Georgia Tech game...a tougher ticket to get but there was a chance they could upset Clemson....naw, just kidding; Clemson's for real and Georgia Tech is just not that good. Question; does anyone know what it cost for GSU to play in the dome? It's got to be pretty pricey and there's no way their covering the cost with attendance.

Re: Lordy
I think we've proven over the last few weeks, albeit against weaker opponents, that we can win any way we need to. Run game not working - pass, pass game not working - run. And that we can beat the teams we're supposed to beat (soundly) even when we're not clicking on all cylinders.
Taylor's one INT yesterday was bad though. He just plain missed his receiver, threw it 5 ft over his head right at the safety.
I would attribute much of our dominance yesterday to great defensive play, not the Panther offense shooting itself in the foot ala Wyoming. We held a heck of a passing offense to 166 yds with tough pressure.
