We definitely don't need to add any more. :? A break in the clouds and I'm blinded by the sun glinting off all the empty east side aluminum.

I've been saying this since the Citadel game. No need to worry about expanding if we can't fill the seats in the stands. I just don't understand why so many choose to sit on the hill if there are seats available. The hill folk could easily fill the empties.

Unfortunately I can say the same thing about the west side as well.

Maybe our fanbase is getting bored. How about a better schedule? The Citadel and Elon don't exactly move the needle (Elon 2009, Armanti's senior year, being the exception).

So, what was the official attendance today? Was it at least 24K like last week or was it even down from that?

I'm afraid last season and the Citadel whooping may have cost us a great many of the fair weather fans and bandwagon jumpers, at least for now. Their loss because it's gonna be a fun ride watching this young team develop. They'll be back.

Not so sure it is the schedule. If we were playing better teams we may not have a win yet and that is where those extra "fans" come from. When we are not winning big we have always had smaller crowds. Other than for the band the endzone seats were a huge waste of time and money. Sure am glad the band is there though.

I really can't believe that people are actually complaining about this. Attendance of 29K in a stadium that seats 24 and we don't need seats. I know most of you guys have been around long enough to know that Homecoming ALWAYS has a a lot of early exits (more than usual) because of all the post game activities. We've also had issues with rain during the previous games this year.

Sorry guys, but this whole thread is pretty rediculous....just have to complain about something I guess.

The NCAA has us listed at around 137% capacity so far this year. To get that one needs to divide the game average by around 20,500. So apparently we have not added seats, though I am not sure where the band is this year.

I don't find it rediculous to hope to see every seat used. Not caring if we maximize our facility reminds me too much of the former administration. Just my 2 cents.

"Facilities maximization" was not the tone of this thread. By any real world standard, selling 29K seats in a 24K seat stadium is pretty darn good utilization. This thread is a complaint about game day behavior (coming late, leaving early). I don't understand why people do that either, but this is NOT a new issue and it happens everywhere. Basically, we're just looking for things to complain about.

The info. in the middle of last week was that only bank seating available, and with the forcast for rain, not the best place to be.If regular seating was available, that word needs to get out.

Again, the 29,000 figure was seats sold, not seats occupied during the game.

Well, the seats were sold. That's the name of the game. Can't hold a gun to people's heads to actually show up. I bet if we had more seats, more people would actually show up on less than perfect weather days. That grass bank is not exactly a nice spot when its rainy or covered in snow.

Does Appalachian not have a ticket exchange website? if not, we desperately need one IMO. It would save a lot of folks from having to sit on the hill. It just doesn't make sense when I see a packed hill in addition to glaring silver in the stands.

Code: Select all

Does anyone know how many grass seats we sell per game? I know some people who have seat tickets that choose to sit/stand on the grassy hill.

Got my seats for Coastal and Elon right here on this site as well as parking passes at the Rivers Deck where my buddies always tailgate. I live in ATL and make almost all away games but only make it up the mountain for 2 or 3 home games a year. Posting my ticket needs here and on Rivals has worked pretty well for me. :D

The problem wasn't just early exits but people not showing up at all. We had less than 25K in the stadium although 29K were sold. There are still a lot of 'bandwagon' fans that aren't going to show up if we aren't winning every game, or if the weather isn't just picture perfect every game. When we were winning NC's it was cool to show up no matter who we played. Hopefully we will be in FBS one day and who we play will help draw people in. As of now only about 2 schools on our schedule get fans excited.
