Is the BOD becoming like wcu?
Please oh please cut out the electric guitars!
Only wcu should use drop cords!
Another note.... 1st time ever that Peacock did not do the fight song with the band after the 3rd quarter. Anyone know why?

I talked to Peacock before the game and he was certainly planning to do so as I make the gameday signs he hands out to students before each home game. He requests a special one for the band each week that he can show them after "directing" the fight song at end of 3rd qtr and was excited about the one for yesterday.

I could not disagree more. That was an absolutely KILLER medley of Led Zeppelin songs. How could they not have used electric guitars? Like WCU ??? Puh-lease. The BOD did a fine job. The guitars complimented the traditional marching Mountaineers & they brought a breath of fresh air to an already great marching band.AppGrad1 wrote:Please oh please cut out the electric guitars!

And, the crowd's reaction was very positive. Standing O, where I was.
Keep up the good work!

When AppGrad1 and AppAlum1 get into a disagreement, I get confused.

"Some people call me hillbilly. Some people call me mountain man. You can call me Appalachian. Appalachian's what I am."-- Del McCoury Band

You don't understand.. It's a running joke that we are a matching band and never, I say never will use electricity to perform. I was just playing on that sentiment.
Of course it sounded awesome...

The band had a great day! Watching and listening to them, I had a great day! The BOD even ran on to the field for their halftime show. Tremendous! They never slowed down, even marching down the hill after the game was a great show. Go Marching Mountaineers!

Of course I did not understand, I never heard that joke. I was a music major, though I never played in the BOD.AppGrad1 wrote:You don't understand.. It's a running joke that we are a matching band and never, I say never will use electricity to perform. I was just playing on that sentiment.

Next time, I suggest announcing your jokes. Perhaps a nice little fanfare would work (with or without electric guitars). Sort of ... ta, ta, ta, taaaaaa.
Then ... even alums who might be a little slow on the uptake (or had too many beers), like me, would understand.
And, so, it would seem that we actually agree on the fine job the BOD has done the last two Saturdays. We just disagree on whether there's a joke in here somewhere.

I'd rather not imitate Western in any way. Next thing we know we'll start winning 1 game a year and trying to find the silver lining in blowout losses.
Re: Is the BOD becoming like wcu?
Good. That way, I'll know you're trying to be funny. I liked the fanfare idea.AppGrad1 wrote:Huh? Announce jokes beforehand? Lol

Re: Is the BOD becoming like wcu?
No comparison at ALL! Western RELIES on their massive electronics to do their show week in and week out. Ours was simply to enhance this Rock 'n Roll show. LOVED IT!!!!!
Re: Is the BOD becoming like wcu?
Loved the band the past two weeks, the Zep songs, especially Cashmere were awesome, only better halftime show from our band would be the Thriller show from 2008 Halloween game against Wofford. This one a close second. I actually saw some band members before the game and told them how much I liked it...So far I like the new direction of the BOD.

Loved the show too. I thought it was the 2nd best I've seen too. You are spot on with the Thriller show though. It brought the house down. I still watch that on You Tube every so often...
Re: Is the BOD becoming like wcu?
I still look at the "Thriller!" show once in a while, too! AWESOME!!!!!! I don't know what You Tube version you have but if it's taken from a right side angle, then I'm actually in it! I'm up on the drum major podium in the stands taking pics for the band and going NUTS! I was so excited! I'd watched rehearsals that whole week so I knew what was coming up! It was PHENOMENAL!!!!!
Re: Is the BOD becoming like wcu?
Just a little heads-up: Someone has posted this forum link on one of the Western chatrooms
. They think it's hilarious!
