I could take a very sad pic right now but I will just be happy for the fans that are not leaving.

I went to bed. I'll listen to the radio call online as I drift off to sleep.

Assuming we can field an offensive line the rest of the way, 10-2 would be quite an accomplishment still. Lots of good possibility left.

No more nicknames for the Defense please. We've been mauled two weeks in a row.

We loose one, maybe two more this year. Team is hurt, exposed and way to overconfident.

Injuries aside, Offense does no better! Penalties still out of control, personal fouls are killing us.

"...and way to overconfident."

Some that overconfidence could be attributed to MMB members posting absolutely crazy stuff about our pathway to the Peach Bowl, et al.

Actually, we still have the same pathway to the Peach Bowl that we had before the Troy and 'A' State meltdowns. That pathway is the one where we walk up to the ticket booth to buy tickets to see two P5 teams not named App State play.

I hope some of our folks have learned a lesson. Some of them preach sermons and make fun of the delusional fans of other schools; and then take a deep breath and start posting about App in New Year's Day bowls.

Very, Very Weak!

I didn't mind the Top 25 talk, and figured the NY6 talk was even, at its least, talk of striving for something. Didn't like it, but fine. I think about what I'm gong to do when I win the lottery, then fail to buy a ticket.

What got me was the "name the defense" talk. Served no purpose.

All of the talk on this board serves the purpose of entertainment by providing lively debate among fans. To think that anything on this board affects players confidence is rather silly. IF players do read this board I hope they are smart enough to understand what it is. We are rank amateurs discussing a game and team that we love and want to see succeed more than anything in the world. If we fans want to speculate how we can make it to a NY6 bowl then so be it. Discussions on this on this board have no more effect on the outcome on the field than me predicting the Cowboys will not score another TD tonight and the Eagles will score two more times. Carry on speculating and dreaming fellow Mountaineers. The team will win some and the team will lose some no matter what we discuss on this message board.

I's perfectly okay to be a homer. The talk of a Peach Bowl was fine. We knew it was a longshot, but still a shot. If we had won and with Toledo and Memphis' losses, our chances would have gone up, especially with Houston still having Temple and Memphis to play.

It's okay to dream. It's even okay to chuckle at other team's dreams because they often directly conflict with our dreams. Thank goodness we have fans who dream because if we didn't, we'd be playing VMI this weekend in Lexington.

You're really suggesting that message board posts contribute to players' overconfidence?

I started that thread. If you had read the post, you would have understood that it was all in fun. And you also would have learned that the Peach Bowl is not between 2 P5s as you suggest it is. The top G5 champion goes to the bowl, and yes, there were scenarios (albeit unlikely ones) where our App State would have had a legitimate shot.

After sleeping on this, it irks me even more. That post was meant for folks who like to look at the crazy, fun scenarios than can and DO happen in college football.

It also served as a commentary on exactly how far we've come as a program in 2 short years. If you're not excited about the program and the opportunity we have to become a national player like Boise State, I don't know what to tell you.

So next time, I'll probably just keep it to myself. Wouldn't want to get the players too overconfident, thinking that they can accomplish something on a national stage.

Instead, we and the players should just accept that we are just little old App State, the school who lucked into a Michigan win and 15 seconds of fame.

Hey crutch, I can assure you that most of the players don't even know what's said on a message board like this. Keep on pumping, black gold will come eventually. Funny how some folks think this stuff ever affects our players. They could care less if we talk about the "possibilities," even if they are a reach. Hell, they're still trying to get over the soreness of that buttwhipping they took last Thursday, and the war 5 days before! Don't think they're going to get too overconfident because someone said they may go to a New Years bowl, or because we were playing around with naming our D.
