I have not started a thread here in quite a long time and am just now able to get back into the swing of seeing App in person. I'll save the x's and o's for a different thread and while reading previous posts, I have seen others touch on the piped in music, but last night it really rang through. The endless piped in music between EVERY play as got to stop! It's not as noticeable or maybe quite as annoying when App is up by 28 points and not one cares. But last night when we were getting our butts handed to us and we were trying somehow to make some plays to get back into the game, it was rude to be honest. I was insulted for the fans and players alike having to hear the endless stream of hip-hop dance songs between EVERY PLAY. All that accomplished was to completely ruin the tension of the game.

I know I sound like squaresville right now, but can we please start a petition to limit this? The band is taken out of it, the atmosphere is ruined by it. And honestly, who are we catering this to? The players aren't hearing it and the students actually seem pretty into the game and most of the other fans are over the age of 15. So who is it for? I was laughing last night because there were a few plays where the students were trying to get loud for the defense by creating an atmosphere of noise we used to be known for and they were being drowned out by some terrible pop song that completely nullified our home field advantage? Surely I cannot be the only one who see this?

I'm all for a well placed 7 Nations Army pipe in to get the students chanting that in unison, but these "songs" are just random samples of music that do not coincide with the game in any way. Do we really need to create fake atmosphere? I felt like i was at an arena football game last night and when we are getting beat it became even more obnoxious. I mean we are down by 19 points in the 4th quarter, but by God we're gonna hear about some guy gettin "paid" between the plays.

So who do we complain to? We keep wanting to be "big time" but I assure you they aren't playing top 40 hits in Tuscaloosa between plays.

We need more cowbell. Music is the least of our worries.

It was snarky because, much like jcline, you're griping about something that has been beat to death. If you dont know how to look on the schools athletic website and find a contact email then I doubt any of us can help you.

Spot on. That's the worst selection of music. And it sounded terrible blasting from our sound system. Very annoying between every play and blasting before the game. At least throw a couple of classic rock songs in the mix. I'm for eliminating it all together. Let the band be heard.

I was going to start a thread this morning about the piped in music being more restrained while we were on offense last night. It was way better.

This thread is downright embarrassing. Every school in the country plays music in between plays and most of it is hip hop. Sorry this is not the 80s anymore. The band can't play every damn play. The players probably have a big say in the music that gets played because they feed off it. Did you go to the Clemson game? Their students and players fed off the music that they played during that game. It was sick. That "we get lots of cash song" was writen by John Law and just watch the players. They LOVE it.

If you don't like the music you can always bring your headsets and listen to the radio call of the game. I know you wouldn't have a problem if it was music other than "hip hop and pop", which every single school in the country plays at the frequency we play it.

Please go to a game anywhere across the country from SEC-ACC-Big Ten and everyone is doing this. It gets everyone excited and going. Would like to see a little more coordination with the band, but in between every down should either be the band or something.

Its just the way of the land now and something alot of you are going to have to get over.

You DON'T play music when your team has the ball and is up to the line trying to call out a play.

The music seemed better but it shouldn't be piped in between plays, especially when we are on offense... just wait for timeouts and between quarters. There was a much bigger problem last night that nobody seems to be addressing... just who was responsible for the sweatshirts on the dance team? This has got to stop!

Schools across the nation do this, however it is not at the expense of the band. I've attended many SEC and ACC games, and you're right. They play music, however their band plays way more than ours. They are also a lot better about when they should and should not play it. I don't think it would bother people as much if it was consistently coordinated at the appropriate times. As it is, it appears as though the band has to make way for the DJ. It should not be that way.

The music isn't going anywhere, anyone that expects that should get over it. However, I think we all can agree that there should be better coordination between when to play, when not to play, when to let the band play.

When I read that John Law and some of the other players wrote that song, it made me understand and appreciate it a whole lot more... pretty cool, actually...

I agree that most stadiums do this, but they are much better at selecting the right songs. There is an art to selecting the right samples at the right times...

Agree with the comments about at least timing the music to coincide with our offense. But it's not just the timing of the music -- and how does "We got lots of trash ..." relate to Boone, ASU? "We got lots of thrash" might have been a better song! Anyway, last night, every time there was a break, we were introducing someone or some group on the goal line. Every time Arkansas State scored in the second half, we seized the moment to celebrate some group. Just seemed so inappropriate and poorly-timed to do this.

Lots of cash needs to go. Just sounds wrong. Good for the guys wanting to work on a career, but (in my opinion) sends the wrong message and just sounds stupid - especially when we're getting our butts handed to us.

I bet if a couple of players on the team wrote a country or rock song, some of you wouldn't be complaining about it.

T-Dog, I might still complain. You know why? This isn't about self=promotion.. It's about what's BEST for App State football and the home game environment. IMO, this isn't it. I'm proud of John Law having talent to write that by the way. I think most everybody's main gripe is the lack of coordination between PA music and band and PA music being played at inappropriate times.
