Honestly I don't post very often because 1. I've been told not to and 2. there is no way I could debate football with any of you.
I've been trying to learn this game for the past 14 years and while I have came a long way there is still a lot to learn. There aren't many men around to discuss it with me and honestly most guys just get grumpy when they are asked questions they think are "stupid". My son used to try to explain but now he's playing up there in Gods Country and we don't get to talk very much and especially not about the team or the questions he thinks I should just know ...
So .... sometimes it is bothersome how negative people are on the boards.
This team isn't the 2005, 2006, or 2007 team. They are the 2012 team. Sorta like Sean Price's answer when people ask him if he is the next Brian Quick.... "NO, I'm the first Sean Price"....
They have made many improvements from last year to this year....The coaching changes were GREAT! Yes, They are a young team... doesn't that give you a good view of the next 4 years??? They have also made many improvements during this season. They work hard. They try hard. They are getting better. They love APP football, too.
Now I'm all about hearing opinions and ideas and thoughts about the whole shebang... but the negativity and the bashing is just wrong. We are all fans... We all love APP! Some of you have loved it longer and were there in the glory days... but weren't you around before that, too? Didn't they work hard to GET to the glory days? These guys have the same hopes and dreams and determination and work ethic. They are doing a great job and they are getting better every day.... striving for perfection.
I'm a relatively new APP fan.... I wasn't around before last year... but I don't miss games and I don't leave early (although it's none of my business when others do... I don't understand it but it is their choice... they paid for their ticket...) I have a very good reason for never ever leaving early... Whether we win or lose... a huge win or a huge loss... I'm standing outside the locker room after every game waiting to tell the guys they did a good job and to show them all (not just my son) that I am there to support them through thick or thin...
We are APP! We will succeed!
Go APPS!
Go APPs!!!
Re: Go APPs!!!
Your son is lucky to have a mom like you, and your good will no doubt influences not just him, but the other players, coaches and fans. Appmom, try not to let negativity get you down too much. It's just the nature of the beast with sports message boards. (it might even be the case that ours is relatively tame by comparison with many schools) He will remember you standing after the game to greet him for the rest of his life.

Appmom - I have been called more names than you can imagine over the years but I can proudly say none of the names included the word "negative"

Re: Go APPs!!!
Preach it, Appmom! Very well put. We know these guys all have the abilities needed because they're at Appalachian and not a smaller or weaker football school.
I had the pleasure of meeting Tony Washington's parents after the game Saturday. They seem like such great folks. Like I've said before, every player out there is someone's son. All of them are part of the Appalachian family just like all the rest of us.
Go App!
