Yep, Beasley's been hired as Senior Associate AD with Development at Georgia State. It was announced yesterday.

I had a nice chat with him at a Yosef event in Charlotte before our last basketball game against UNCC. He's a good dude. This is more hurtful than losing Chuck Cobb to Georgia State, in my opinion.

Rick was a great guy and he will be sorely missed, but...

We're going to be just fine. I have nothing but respect for Rick and Charlie, but I am so excited for the new energy Doug and his team have brought to Appalachian. I think Doug has done a phenomenal job in his first bit of time here at Appalachian and I have nothing but full faith that he is going to take us to the next level.

On a not so serious note, when is Cobb hiring Capel?

Nothing but the best wishes for Rick. He's a great guy and did an outstanding job for Appalachian State. Glad to have him here in Atlanta.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I think Capel works at Georgia State. Its a Sales and Marketing position with sponsorships.

And yes Rick will be missed!

I agree with the post that the new team we have at the University is doing a FANTASTIC job. I applaud him for his effrots on behalf of App State, and wish him well is his future endeavors.

May have already done so. When at the Ga. State game, I noticed they had a Jason Capel on their Foundation staff.

You just can't pull against an App State HOF like Beasley. He'll do very well at the new job but he's black & gold at his core.

never met Rick, but I have yet to hear one negative about him from people who know him. Great to hear he has landed his feet, he will do a great job for them.

Rick's a great guy and glad to have him here in the ATL. He will bring lots of energy to GaSt. Best of luck to him.

Its ok to go somewhere else but to go somewhere within the same division.... not my favorite idea. He's now working directly against us. Beasley was a good guy but in the end, he isn't at App State and I wish Ga State all the failure that I can. Much like when Speir went to WCU. Loved the guy, wanted them to lose every game though.

I didnt think that Rick and Cobb saw eye-to-eye sow this surprises me. Gotta be purely money?

Rick and Cobb were almost always on the same side of the table on issues, or maybe that was Rick just being a good solider was a decision was made.

I'm not aware of any significant differences between the two.
