USA today projects the New Orleans Bowl will feature:
Arkansas State vs OLD DOMINION ?!?!
Yes, the team we destroyed (49-0) and left for dead is projected to play our (likely) conference champion in New Orleans on the 19th.
Say it Ain't So

Don't remember which side ODU is on (E/W) but that side of CUSA is not terrible. The other side is a joke. If that is percieved as a step above SB people are just not paying attention.EastHallApp wrote:They're 5-5, so two chances to get bowl eligible. Tells you all you need to know about the strength of CUSA (not that the Sun Belt is any better).
Yea they lose this weekend. Next they have FIU I believe so a good chance to get to 6.WataugaMan wrote:They play a 7-3 Southern Miss team this weekend. Therfore, there is a high probability they will be 5-6 come Saturday evening.
If we win out I would hope we get an invite outside of our 4 tie-ins especially if they are a dumping ground for 6-6 or worse 5-7 teams. We (Us, Ark and GaSo) deserve better.bigdaddyg wrote:If I counted correctly there are currently 63 teams with at least 6 wins. I believe I heard last night that there is a good chance that a few 5-7 teams will go to bowls. I agree with appbio91. If we get some horrible team as our first opponent I will be disappointed. Ark St will absolutely destroy ODU. What a joke.
I have a feeling that some of the SB tie-ins are going to be dumping grounds. Our top three teams will roll in with good overall records and every opponent will likely be 6-6 or worse. Superdome will look ridiculous with 20K in fans.appbio91 wrote:If we win out I would hope we get an invite outside of our 4 tie-ins especially if they are a dumping ground for 6-6 or worse 5-7 teams. That won't happen. The Cure will likely be vs. a 6-6 opponent (AAC #7, though that will still likely be a competitive game), but the other three shouldn't.bigdaddyg wrote:I have a feeling that some of the SB tie-ins are going to be dumping grounds. It's possible, but ECU needs to beat Cincy to get eligible (even after pounding UCF yesterday), and Cincy's losses have come against a pretty good BYU team and the class of the AAC (Memphis, Houston, and Temple. They didn't have Navy on their schedule, and we'll see how they do against a USF team that is showing some life late in the season).WVAppsfan wrote:If ODU makes a bowl game it will benefit App. It will make our overall SOS higher a the end of the year. And if this is the case whomever plays them will have to play tough and make sure that they can top what App did to ODU. I say that we can count on playing in the Cure Bowl against the AAC and ECU..... Wait and see.
Good point. And it's more likely than not that the access bid will go to the AAC champion, so the ECU-Cincinnati game could well determine whether the AAC has a team available to fill its Cure Bowl spot.appchicago wrote: Now this all assumes that Houston (or another AAC team) doesn't get the access bowl bid, right? Because it seems like if they went there, the tie-in bowls would all have to scramble for their next pick, potentially meaning that there wouldn't be a bowl-eligible AAC team left for the Cure Bowl. Or am I getting the process wrong?
