All About Brownie [Black & Gold Podcast]
Although Brownie has joined us for three other episodes this season, this was by far our (Big C and me) favorite episode to produce.
This episode is all about the career of Steve Brown. From him being picked to be QB as a kid to spending almost 2 decades calling App State football games and everything in between.
Steve bleeds black and gold and this conversation showcases it. We hope every App State fan, young and old, will enjoy this episode and listen to the history of one of the all time Mountaineer greats.

He is the man for sure. The first time Steve ever called me before he ever came on the show, he brought up the idea of having former players on the show to talk about their careers and App State history. He knows a ton about App State history and this could've easily been a much longer episode.appbio91 wrote:Steve is the man!! That guy is a mountaineer to the bone.

For me personally (and I think I can speak for Big C too), I LOVE hearing former players talk some passionately about App State. We all know Brownie is a die hard but it's still great to hear those stories and we can't wait to talk to other players with Brownie.

He's helping take care of some family matters this fall. Announcing is a big time commitment on the weekends in the fall. Hopefully he'll be back next year but that's a bridge yet to be crossed.HeffnerIV wrote:Best one yet. Anyone know why he's no longer in the booth?

Okay each week I listen and enjoy your thoughts and have a great time listening. I am a new App trate fan, as in the last four years and this podcast was awesome because of the history and the stories that he shared that I did not know about the development of the program.
I am thankful that you took the time to share this with all of us, great solid job this week.

Brownie taught us both (especially me!) a lot in this episode as well. When Big C and I originally discussed what we wanted the show to be back in August, we talked about doing some episodes where we only covered App State history.
So when Steve brought up the idea of having special edition episodes and bringing former players on the show and covering App State history without me ever bringing up what Big C and I talked about, it validated the idea.
That said, we never imagined we could get someone so well versed in App State history like Steve Brown to join us!

It's a great idea! Does App have a printed version of the athletic history? There seems to be quite a bit of good historical info out there that not everyone knows. This would make a great Yosef Club gift for higher giving levels and for sale to the general public.
I'd also be interested in buying an App's athletics coloring book for my son with drawings from historical pics (ie. J. Moore on shoulders in the Big House, Hunter's fumble recovery 2005, go for 2, 1st NCAA appearance with Cremins at the helm, Banks fumble recovery against JMU, AE's dominant playoff performance against UR, opening game in Holmes etc...)

Jim Jones (former Tennis Coach and Associate (?) AD) was working on one. Haven't heard anything recently.moonshine wrote:It's a great idea! Does App have a printed version of the athletic history?
