If by some miracle

NMSU knocks off Ark St who wins the conference as it relates to the bowls? I realize that there would be a three way tie (provided Stink and App take care of business). I'm sure this has been covered on another thread but I didn't know.

The bowls don't have any requirements or even guidelines, really, relating to following the conference standings, so it doesn't really matter.

Officially, as you said, its a tie and all 3 are conference champions. As to the bowl order---That's a good question.

Bowl selection order:

1) NOLA (most likely a team from the west)
2) GoDaddy (if available, takes Champion to pit #1MAC v #1SB...Daddy has 1st pick in MAC)
3) Camelia (most likely an east team, probably prefer AL team)
4) Cure (best remaining, probably from east)

My take:

I think Ark St is NOLA bound no matter what at this point, even if they drop one.

If we win out we're Go Daddy bound.

If we lose either I think GS may jump us for Go Daddy.

If we lose to ULL and beat USA and ULL beats Troy, GS to Go Daddy, ULL to the Camellia bowl, App to the Cure.

If we beat ULL and lose to USA, GS to Go Daddy, USA to Camellia, App to Cure.

There is a very likely scenario that there is not a 4th Bowl Eligible team from the Sunbelt. South Ala has 5 wins, but has App and GaSo left on the schedule. GaSt has 4 wins and has Troy and GaSo. ULL has 4 wins and App and Troy. I know someone else has probably covered this, but I feel like one of these bowls will have to look elsewhere. Just wondering which bowl has the wandering eye?

Cure has the last pick so they will be the one that doesn't take a SBC team.

Most likely true, but the selection order isn't hard and fast - the conference and schools will work with the bowls to try and match teams/destinations that make the most sense for everyone.

So, hypothetically, let's say the SBC only has three eligible. Presumably either App or Southern won't be among the top two picks (let's say App for the sake of discussion). Suppose App communicated a preference for the Cure over the Camellia, and the Camellia could then find a team from another conference that would be as appealing to them as App. Perhaps everyone would agree to send App to Orlando if it seemed to be a win for all parties?

Not sure how likely all that would be, but I think it's at least feasible.

I agree with everything you said except for one item. It will not be App deciding that we'd prefer Cure over Camellia, it will be the Camellia deciding they have better option over App.

The bowls are the ones in power in these decisions not the schools, unfortunately.

I believe the schools WILL have some voice in this. These are small bowls by comparison, it is in their best interest to hear from the schools about attendance possibilities. JMO.

The way I understand it, schools do not have to accept an invitation made right away. For example, GoDaddy can invite App. If we want, we can say we want to wait to see if another invite is given. At this point, GoDaddy can invite GaSo. If GaSo accepts, App's invite is obviously gone.

All this to say, we essentially can tell the bowls and conference which one we prefer to go to and they will work it out. Especially if the conference only has 3 bowl eligible teams to choose from -- we have some leverage on where we get invited.

I don't understand the bowl scenario at all, but I'd wager a dollar to a donut that we, with a minimum of 8 wins, will go to some bowl. Is that a point of contention?

No, we are definitely going somewhere

Did I see the Cure Bowl is on CBSSN which many cable networks don't carry (my family in VA has Comsast Xfinity and they don't get it) while the other 3 bowls are ESPN or ESPN2?

Correct, in fact I think I read that the other three are all on ESPN (the original).
