Would love to see another Sun Belt member to become bowl eligible. Pulling for Ga. State.

Oh, by the way, who are they playing this week?

They have about as much chance as the average snow ball in hell.

I know they've improved, but If you lose to Unc-C at Concord at home, do you really deserve to be in a bowl? That loss did more damage to the SBC than any benefit to be gained from a bowl appearance and probable loss to the 6th or 7th team from the AAC.
Not pulling for Stink, just not excited about Ga. State.
I agree with sixtoes that it's all moot.

I will say Southern has issues defending the pass at times so Arbuckle could have a big game. I just don't think State can stop the option though. Might be a shootout.

Stat'es only chance is for Arbuckle to throw the ball around 500 yards and Southern to turn it over multiple times.

The Panthers are trending upward, but they have a long way to go before they catch up wtih Southern. Yes, GS has trouble defending the pass sometimes but they will defend the pass far better than GSU will defend the run. The Panthers will score, but I don't think they can slow GS down much.

GaSt had a bad early season, but so did we last year. Heck, we can't even crap on them too much for losing to Liberty. But in their last 5 games, they lost to ArkSt (glass houses), dropped a very close one to ULL (before the Cajuns started their slide), and won three in a row.

I don't think they beat GaSo, but I wouldn't think it was a sign of the end times if they did.

If Georgia Southern knows how to do one thing, it's beat Sun Belt also-rans and bottom-feeders.

Yeah, I can't imagine how sick their 27 fans must be. Those losses to Concord and Liberty have to be devastating. Just win one of them and they'd probably have a trip to Orlando waiting on them.

The truth is that Georgia State is very close to being an 8-3 team right now. If the UNCC game had been three minutes longer (time for one more possession) they would have won. All the momentum was on their side. They should have beaten Liberty but couldn't get things going. They had ULL beat and choked in the final minutes.

It's amazing how much difference a year makes. Losing Arbuckle is going to set them way back again though.

If this happens, Arkansas State would win the Sun Belt outright due to their head to head win against us.

That's incorrect. We'd share to title with stAte per the Sun Belt Conference rules. There is no tie breaker scenario. Same record = co-champs.

Those were my thoughts exactly. There could not be a head to head tie breaker since everyone doesn't play each other and we have no conference championship. I kind of doubt that they will have much problem. Same with Stink. Not to completely knock an earlier comment that said GA State could be 8-3 but typically a case can be made for most any team to have more wins than losses. We were within a few kicking miscues of being at least 9-3 last year.

By definition, "win the conference outright" means there are no ties to break. Which, of course, will in all likelihood be the case.

They must have improved a ton since we played them. I was at the game and they were horrible.

Didn't know that, thanks for the info. With that being said, I can't see Texas State spoiling Senior Day for Ark State.
