Montgomery Rolling Out The Red Carpet
Arrived at Hampton Inn & Suites-Downtown Weds afternoon, hotel staff has been very friendly and seem to be genuinely excited about our visit. They were very helpful with suggestions for bars/restaurants (all within walking distance)!
Went to Railyard Brewery and was greeted by an engaging bar crowd. Everyone was friendly and wishing our Apps a victory. Some were Troy graduates/students and they were very supportive. By the way....Railyard has excellent beers!!! The Owner came over and introduced himself and talked about his beers & moonshine. He's also pulling for us!!!
Then ventured to Aviator Bar and was greeted by the Manager!!! She was excited to host the Mountaineers and gave us a tour of the bar. Cool atmosphere and we will have "live" music Friday & Saturday night. She was still working on something for Thursday night. They had Aviator Brewery (Fuquay-Varina) beers and Dales Pale Ale (Brevard) on tap. They also own the Alley Bar, which we toured. This bar will be hosting the Bobcats!!! With the close proximity of the two bars, we should have some "fun & friendly banter" with our opponents. Already met a few Ohio fans and they have been respectful and fun to talk with.
Excited to be here and anxiously awaiting for my fellow Mountaineers to arrive!!! GO APPS!!!

Thanks for the update.
It sounds like it's going to be a blast. I can't wait to get there.

I want to check out Railyard. Is it right beside the Embassy Suites? I did not know they had moonshine. Did you try it?JMappfan5 wrote:Arrived at Hampton Inn & Suites-Downtown Weds afternoon, hotel staff has been very friendly and seem to be genuinely excited about our visit. The Railyard Brewery is about a block and a half from the "Alley". It will be an easy walk from the Embassy Suites. I did not try the moonshine yesterday...but I definitely will today. Just picked up my tickets and was greeted by Doug Gillen, Teresa and several DBs. The players were very polite (yes sir & no sir). I asked if they were having a good time and DMiddleton responded, "yes sir. We visited the VA Hospital yesterday and that was an emotional experience. We all want to have a good time but rest assured...we are here to win a football game! This game means alot to us Seniors"!!!! What a great representative of App State!!!

Is anything going on in town on Friday outside of a bar? I'm not really a bar guy but I was considering driving down early on Friday if there's anything fun going on.

Re: Montgomery Rolling Out The Red Carpet
I've read enough about this Dreamland place that I need to check it out. If anyone has an extra chair at their table, let me know.
Of course I will also likely be making an appearance at one or more of the aforementioned bars.

You should pick up at least one quart of their sauce - tis good on ribs (pork or beef) as well as chicken. The Alabama folks dip white bread in it and eat it as an appetizer while waiting for their order. It will come out prior to your order - so check it out.

Will try to post on here what time once I get there tomorrow after lunch. Cool guys. I'll be arriving around dinner time Friday, so I'm thinking I'll hit Dreamland either then or for lunch Saturday. Thanks!
