Bowl Experience

I now get it. I am so glad my family went the game. This was not just about the game. This was about the fans, the players, the BOD and the city of Montgomery. I have to say that as much as I enjoyed the NC's (and I know those wins were more rare and harder to achieve) this bowl experience was incredible and maybe it was just the emotion and finish but I rank this as one of my favorite all time App wins. Maybe the top just because of the over all experIence. I thought our fan base showed out well. Putting us on that side of the stadium was a great idea. We were packed in there and I think it encouraged everyone to be loud and into the game. I have not watched the replay but live it sounded like we were really loud and I know it effected the game on a couple occasions. I could go on but other than the game I have to say the Aviator bar was also a great home base choice.

If the bowl is going to stick there for a while they need to spend some money and update/expand bathroom and concessions.

It was a great game, the fan experience was fun and provided a fun time for fans. The stadium is historic and I had great seats. But they need to have some improvement in the bathrooms and the concessions, I agree. The did not take DEBIT cards either. But it was an amazing experience. Jut wait, the next bowl game will be bigger.

Our crowd had a great time. In a small city like Montgomery, the bowl felt like a real event. I talked to more than a few local fans who had no dog in the fight, but who came anyway and loved what they saw. One guy said that he'd barely heard of App State before the win over you-know-who in '07, but now he is making plans to come up for the Miami game next season. There were still some logistics to work out here and there, but the venue was fun and the App fans were rowdy. And I've gotta say.... a driveable destination with $25 tickets where you can get a reserved tailgate spot right next to the stadium for 20 bucks and a $75/night hotel room... that's pretty attractive no matter who you are.

I've got 2 kids and the oldest just turned 2, so I wasn't able to make a game in Boone this year. I am so glad I got to go to this one (shout out to my intrepid wife), see lots of old friends, make some new friends, and see my Mountaineers win one. Can't say enough good things about it. I don't know what the experience was like for the folks watching on TV, but the in-person experience was great.

This is great to hear, and you are certainly not the only person to say it. I hope everyone who stayed home because they didn't think it would be worth the trip will see posts like this, and talk to people that went to the game to see how much fun a good bowl trip can be. I'm hoping we take 10,000 to our next bowl!

I can't speak to the amenities but that aside, I loved the stadium interior. I loved that it was close to the action and was the perfect size for the crowd. Would be great to have a video board like that.

Yep. I thought the field and video board were awesome. I am sure it looked good on TV. As evidence of how good the camera work and video board were, when Blair forced the fumble and recovery you could clearly see the ball come out before the guy hit the ground on the replay. The crowd reaction to the replay was cool.

One more thing to top off the experience. My family was on the ESPN broadcast three times during the game. We are famous back home. My phone was blowing up at the game with people sending me screen shots and tagging us on Facebook.

I loved how close we were to the field! We were right on top of it! I really hope some day we can lower the field at KBS and get the stands right on top of it...what an advantage we had with crowd noise on Saturday. It was awesome!

The experience around the city was as described by others. For those familiar with Durham, the district where the bars and restaurants were was like a mini-American Tobacco District. Still a work in progress, but fun for a couple days. Get a couple blocks away and it was a ghost town. But, it made for easy parking and driving around, so that was nice.

Aside from the tailgate lot, I will say that being able to park for free in a deck three blocks from the stadium was very nice.

FanFest seemed like a fun event, though unless I missed it the advertised HD big screen showing other games was nowhere to be found. Also they could have expanded their food options - if you weren't at the alumni tailgate, your only choice was a state fair-type booth with corn dogs and various other fried stuff. Missed an opportunity there.

My biggest issue with the stadium was not taking credit cards at the concession stands. That seemed pretty high school to me. Definitely could have benefited from more concession stands, but I got down to the restroom and concessions during halftime and back to my seat with a few minutes to spare, so not awful. The in-seat part of the stadium experience was great - loved my seats, good sightlines, nice video board.

Overall, great experience.

All was awesome except concessions. Went down with less than two minutes to go in the half. Was the 10th person in line for a drink and snack. Missed the 14pts by OHIO, which was fine, but made it to my seat with 2 minutes to go before the 2nd half started. Never stood in line so long with 9 people in front of me. The lady at the counter was upset because they didn't have enough people working.

Only 1 minor negative to the rest of the 99% being positive. I had a blast!!

I'm not so sure they, the bowl people and the city, were expecting as many people to come to the game. We passed one couple selling parking in their business lot who pointed out how many app fans there were and how surprised they were at how many we brought.

Reminds me of the first championship game in Chattanooga. I don't think the city was ready for the onslaught of App fans that invaded their city back then. I thought the same about the city of Montgomery. Although I had a great time there, there were the little things that told me they weren't ready for our large numbers.

I loved the city and how they embraced the game. I did look at those 4 port-a-johns when we pulled into LOT E and had a Chattanooga flashback

But for year 2 I was overall impressed. How many days was it until Knoxville???

We parked for free literally across the street from the stadium (Lot J, I think). Overall, had a great time and would go back again.

Amazing experience for me. Was made better because I was able to share it with my wife, two of my kids, and all of the App fans that were there!

I wouldn't give anything for the chill I felt going down my spine when I saw the FG go through and Matics running across the field telling Ohio to hush.......Wonderful moment I'll always remember!

Great experience. The wife and I had to do some family stuff, but we were able to escape to Atlanta friday night to split up the drive down. Had to drive all the way back to Charlotte after the game and didn't get back till 4:00am EST. My point being...totally worth it!!!!!
The game was great, tailgating was great (Lot J was completely free and across the street) and had a blast. Looking forward to next season!!!

It was a fantastic experience. The town is nice, laid out nicely and easy to navigate. Great seats and the ticket office did a great job in my opinion. I called on Tuesday before the game to add a ticket to the 7 I had pre-ordered and they managed to get my 8th ticket with the other 7. I expected it to be by itself, but was pleasantly surprised when I picked up the tickets. Great ticket prices and plenty of restaurant options. I was disappointed that the Rosa Parks museum wasn't open after noon on Friday. Also, all the people were friendly and happy to have us there. In fact, I spent some quality time with 4 members of MCPD after the game Friday night and they were impressed with our fan base and said they were adopting App as their 2nd team - after 'Bama. In fact, when I last saw them, they had the App-State chant going.
