They aren't rules, but I'm not sure why you would laugh off the request of the person who puts in all the time to bring this information.

I'm laughing off the people who feel the need to play hall monitor on a message board. I understand where Moose is coming from.appst89 wrote:They aren't rules, but I'm not sure why you would laugh off the request of the person who puts in all the time to bring this information.

Re: Recruiting, 2016
I'm sorry, I don't get the whole hidden post deal. All someone has to do is create a log-on and they can easily see whatever is posted. Do you guys honestly think other team coaches come to the MMB see who we offer then steal this "intel".
Geez guys come on. Even IF and a big IF a team would do that, a fake log-on to become a member is all they need.
Let's come back to earth a little bit. We aren't talking about the Coke recipe or the Colonel's 11 herbs and spices.
This is a bit extreme and silly.

Re: Recruiting, 2016
As for the rest of the posts from the past couple of days no need to address any of them except one. Given ASU_MBA decided to say I'm lying about information I put in several posts I will address him. But I'm going to have the respect for the rest of the board to take it to PM.
Hidden posts were never meant to be anything more than the tiniest little bit of a place where we could temporarily do something to get it from being completely in the open. And I didn't think it was too much to ask even if it really didn't do much. I also didn't think it was too much to ask to not make negative comments on commits and to allow me to confirm commits before posting them. That was as much for the recruit in question, to not cause them any problems, as for the board not looking stupid if it wasn't true. And it's happened before.
Honestly don't know what to do. Guess we'll come back down to earth, as MBA states.
I guess I should have waited a while instead of posting 10 minutes after getting back from a funeral. Dumb move on my part.

Re: Recruiting, 2016
The lack of willingness of a couple of our fellow Apps to understand Mooses request reeks of selfishness and arrogance. Is it really that important to you two to take a chance and screw up a potential recruits commitment? Come on guys that's not the way we operate is it?

Moose you do an awesome job, one negative thought should never outweigh a hundred positive posts.

Agreed, Moose. I don't think it's a heavy request to ask posters not to leave comments that would be seen as negative. We have plenty of outstanding commits and I'm sure we'll get some more before signing day. If you guys want to do something interactive, just follow them on twitter and leave some nice comments for them to show we have a good fan base. Thanks Moose for all of your hard work, much appreciated! #AppState #Peak16 #WeBeatGaso...Alot..

Moose,
sorry for the death in your family. Never intended to call you a liar.
1) You are an awesome asset to this board and I appreciate the work you do.
2) I stand by my comment that the hidden posts are silly. For example, Chris Foster probably has a log-on and any coach in NC or anywhere can get one in about 5 minutes. Hidden posts aren't gonna to stop any teams getting intel. It is silly to think it would. If anything it will entice people to join just to see what the hell we are discussing.
3) why would you or anyone else post something on a message board (hidden post or not) that could potentially screw up recruiting (not that you have - just saying). I don't need the inside scoop at the risk of missing a top target, as you mentioned could happen in your private message.
4) If hidden posts make you sleep better at night go for it. Personally i think it does nothing to deter teams from getting info, if a team's sophisticated recruiting system involves trolling message boards....
Again not discrediting what you do in any way shape or form, just stating my opinion on this paranoid hidden post thing

MBA - it's a simple request by the man who spends all his time working on behalf of all of us - it is asinine to not follow his requests regardless of how stupid you think they are

Re: Recruiting, 2016
Moose and other mods have mentioned they're kind of figuring this out as they go. I think it's fine to have input like MBA's. I do try to honor the hidden post requests, but honestly I think everything MBA wrote above is true.
I think Moose is doing his best to balance providing us with as much good info as possible with not putting anything out there the staff wants to keep secret. Really, I don't think there's any good way to hide something on a message board from other schools. Even on a pay site - with all the expense and trouble college football staffs go to to compete, I doubt they'd worry about paying $5 a month to subscribe to a message board if it contained valuable info for them. The Scout site certainly recognizes this - the premium board there contains way more recruiting info than the free board, but they also tell you that there are some visitors/recruits that they won't name there because the staff doesn't want it out.
