I would like to think that if Satt continues on his winning ways and is solicited by other bigger programs, his alumnus status would give him a bit of a loyalty grip to stay with the current program unless there is a collapse.

If we expect him to stay with us when the P5s come calling, we need to be ready to accept a few losing seasons and stick with him when times get tough. Are we as fans ready to see Satt miss a bowl 2 or 3 seasons in a row and not start calling for his head?

Hmm... I don't expect him to stick with us when P5s come calling, and I don't expect us to have many losing seasons as long as we're in the Sun Belt or any similarly weak league.

I just have a hard time seeing the bottom falling out for even a season or two. There are programs in the country that don't drop off. A bad season for this program would be 8-4 IMO. We have a solid recruiting footprint and kids just want to play at App. We never seem to have large graduating classes and it looks like we will have talent in the pipeline for the next several seasons. It would take a disastrous recruiting fail for us to really decline- especially in the relatively dismal Sunbelt.

Well all programs have down times. Look at programs like VT or Michigan. I think it would take more than 2 down seasons at App to see a coaching change.
Does having an alumnus as head coach matter? I think it just depends on the school and on the coach. If Michigan does not win a Big 10 title in the next two years he is gone. If we lost two bowl games Sat would not be gone.
