Interesting item regarding the best football team in each state (only 49 states since there is no college football in Alaska), regardless of division.
Here is how they calculated the scores:
They came up with a scoring system that takes into account recent and historical success in order to rank every team in the sport. Our scoring system is relative to success within each team's division, so every team get a fair shot at their state's title.
Scores are based on the following criteria:
Winning Percentage (since 2010) x 10
Each Conference Championship (Since 2000): 0.5 points
National Championships (Since 1960): 1 point
MVP Awards (Heisman/Payton/Hill/Gagliardi): 1 point
AFCA Coach of the Year Awards: 1 point
By the way, the breakdown by division is: FBS-14 (29%); FCS-10 (20%); DII-11 (22%); DIII-14 (29%); although one states winner was FCS but is moving to FBS (Coastal Carolina).
Any guesses which is the best in North Carolina?

Probably a worthwhile article, but I don't go for websites that make you load pages/slides you are not interested in viewing to get to what interests you. I understand their need for revenue, but it's simply too time consuming for me. Especially when I already have good idea why APP would be the top program in NC.
