Unread post by T-Dog » Fri Jan 29, 2016 8:41 pm

Georgia game now has a date. Saturday, September 2nd, 2017. Season opener.

http://onlineathens.com/breaking-news/2 ... all-opener

That sets the on-conference slate for 2017.

9/2 at Georgia
9/16 vs Akron
9/23 vs Wake Forest
10/28 at UMass

Love the slate with 6 FBS teams coming to the Rock but not a fan of the 2nd week bye. Is there another open date in the schedule considering the SBC title game may be in play by then?

$1.25 million pay day for Georgia. Is that an all time high payout?

Maybe we'll play a Sun Belt game week 2?

Early season bye can be beneficial in recruiting because you get to be the first one to make an appearance at prospect's game.

Selfishly very excited about the UMASS game as we live about 45 minutes from there. Our non conference schedules are filling in nicely IMO. Hoping we get a home and home with UCONN soon too!

True! I hope that's the case. I prefer an open date after 4+ games although I can buy Mac's recruiting logic. Pumped for the Wake game as well. Those games back in W-S were fun!

Went to quite a few of those Wake games in Winston. Just based on local interest , that game may break any attendance record that we have had at KBS including the Miami game this season.

Also went to a Wake game during my time in Boone and thoroughly enjoyed it. Looking forward to having them in Boone

Wake game circa 87 or 88, one of the wildest nights of my life.

The night that they cut the lights out for fireworks after we win and cups rained from the stands?

My favorite was that time Dino Hackett dove over the center at Wake and knocked the hell out of their QB!!

For APP vs WF games, my old roommate and I typically arrived at Groves Stadium around 10:00 am for a 7:30 kick..........just to get ready. The Tanglewood Steeplechase, the APP-WF game and Homecoming were always big events for us.

Sep 23 2017 is going to rock with the Deacs coming up to Boone. I know this year's Miami game is big, but the history with Wake...oh yeah, a good day to be sure. Go App!

Fraternity used to charter a bus to the Wake games back around '84/'85. Lots of juice boxes consumed and it was a blast. I recall being at one game when we beat them on a late 50 yard plus field goal. That was about the time when the series ended for some reason- LOL.

This should be a regular rivalry.

No member of the Tobacco Road fraternity is ever going to rival up with APP.

This would be a great annual rivalry. It's about more than just perception these days. Let's say App goes 2-0 or split 1-1 in two very competitive games vs Wake in the upcoming series. Let's say we sell out the game at KBS and take 15k to Groves. Minimal travel costs, big time ticket sales, "Golden bowl", it could be awesome. Plus not to mention the fun we could have with billboards up and down 421 of Yosef punching the Demon Deacon out to bait them into it.

I'd like to see Wake and ECU on our schedule on a regular basis, or at least until one of the Triangle schools grows a pair.

But if we play ECU in Greenville again, I just hope it's at night. That last game was brutal. People were falling out.
