He led us to a "second" place finish in the SunBelt and a victory in the Camellia Bowl (the first ever for a first year move up from FCS to FBS). That seems better than some nebulous star rating in my humble opinion.bigdaddyg wrote:For what it is worth- App, Tennessee and Miami QB's all rated in the top 20. Taylor kind of reinforces my questioning of the star rating thing. Kind of doubt he was a 4 or 5.
I wonder if TL were about 2" taller would he have had a higher rating and P5 offers? I am personally okay with bringing solid 3 star guys. We seem to be doing something right in Boone.NewApp wrote:He led us to a "second" place finish in the SunBelt and a victory in the Camellia Bowl (the first ever for a first year move up from FCS to FBS). I think that might largely depend on how the new players around him develop. He should have better athletes at WR that could result in more consistent ability to stretch the field, but they're unproven. And of course we have to be able to protect him.Saint3333 wrote:I'm very interested in the progression of Lamb. Some discounted how well he played last year.
Saying that, we've typically seen quite a bit of improvement in our QBs between their sophomore and junior years. Will we see that again this year or has Lamb already made the "big" jump we've seen with other QBs in the past. I say this due to the fact that he is a coaches son and the light may have come on earlier for him than others.
My prediction is we won't be that much better passing from him, but we may see his running capabilities increase, an area of his game that is underrated.
If he's healthy, he will most definitely be the starting QB. Fingers crossed.WVAPPeer wrote:"I'm very interested in the progression of Lamb. Some discounted how well he played last year."
Wow. isn't that the truth - one of the most confusing/troubling lines of thought ever!!! - I believe there was more than one poster who suggested he wouldn't even be the starter next season ---

As far as his personal development, the biggest area for improvement I see (not that I'm a QB coach) is avoiding the killer mistake when he's pressured. It seemed like he usually made good decisions, but when he made a bad one, it was often disastrous.
Careful, that borders on criticism. You will be called down for such comments.EastHallApp wrote:Saint3333 wrote:I'm very interested in the progression of Lamb. Some discounted how well he played last year.

With or without recent developments it was a ridiculous thing to say in the first place. Lamb is the starter until he graduates.proasu89 wrote:WVAPPeer wrote:"I'm very interested in the progression of Lamb. Some discounted how well he played last year."

Don't know about that. I think there were a few that said there would be a competition for the starting job next year. Now with recent developments, not so much.
