Sunbelt Football Conference Schedule delayed
We were supposed to see the conference football slate today, seems as if it is put on hold for the " foreseeable future."
How is this acceptable?

Re: Sunbelt Football Conference Schedule delayed
...'cause some of us remember when we were lucky to get a full schedule by early July...maybe two or three days before season tickets went on sale. Of course, that was a different conference, three chancellors and three AD's ago.WVAppsfan wrote:We were supposed to see the conference football slate today, seems as if it is put on hold for the " foreseeable future."

Re: Sunbelt Football Conference Schedule delayed
I saw floating around the Twitter-verse that the delay may be because ESPN is trying to get our game vs. Miami on a Friday night. Has anyone heard that or can debunk that?
Being on the mothership would be great publicity, but I think that it would hurt attendance numbers for that game which would be a bummer.

Re: Sunbelt Football Conference Schedule delayed
Really hope that we do not give in to a Friday night game. We would be unable to get any of our recruits to the game (as they would likely be playing). Now, if they want us on regular ESPN for a Thursday night game with Miami, it might be less painful. However, I want to see us keep them for a September Saturday with KBS rockin like crazy !mountaineertider wrote:I saw floating around the Twitter-verse that the delay may be because ESPN is trying to get our game vs. Miami on a Friday night. Can APP overrule ESPN? - say they want a Thu/Fri night game with the U and APP says this is our biggest home game ever and we want it on Saturday?

Re: Sunbelt Football Conference Schedule delayed
Hoping it's not moving to Friday, but this game will sellout no matter what.
The real question is does this impact season ticket sales? Maybe so, but maybe not if season tickets are the only way to get a Miami ticket.
Tough call for the school no doubt as playing Miami on ESPN in prime time could have big implications down the road especially if we were to win.

Re: Sunbelt Football Conference Schedule delayed
Since the cat's out of the bag both side are balking at this. Still waiting for word from Benson and the Belt. To answer WV's question App doesn't have the juice but the U hopefully does. The only thing that it really huts them on is ticket sales as Friday would be a travel day for a some of their fans but, given it's the biggest game ever here and it's the reason we've made so many changes to cash in on it, no way to even put a value on what it would cost us since we have nothing to compare it to. ESPN rules the roost but hopefully both Miami and App stand their ground. We'll know soon enough.

Twitter reports say the teleconference is about future football membership.

I sent an email to the Commissioner of the Sun Belt, he indicated in his response to me that the schedule will be announced in the next 48 hours

Re: Sunbelt Football Conference Schedule delayed
Nnnnooooooooooo! Damn it. I had big plans. Got hotel rooms, my UM grad niece was going to come down from NY for the game. None of that will work if the game is not on Saturday. And BTW, I bought an extra season ticket just to be sure she could sit with us for that one effing game.
I know, I know "welcome to life in the FBS." This part of it SUCKS. Better not be too late to cancel that extra seat and get my money back if this does get moved.

Sounds like Saturday is going to win out. Miami and App apparently held out...Belt wanted Friday game.

With the ticket price increase, expansion of donor seating and $60 individual-game prices, moving the Miami game, the spotlight game of the 2016 schedule, to Friday would have been really bad. Gillin knew this.

Re: Sunbelt Football Conference Schedule delayed
Saturday was my preference but wouldn't have minded the Friday game. More TV exposure and that game is selling out regardless of the day it's played on.
