Yes! Great news.

Don't know if I'm reading something that isn't there, but I wondered if the Southern AD's comment in that Scheduling 101 article that (paraphrasing) "When the league asks you to play a weeknight game, you should try to do it" was a veiled shot at App.

In any case, they're welcome to this one.

If he's fine with only three home Saturdays for the second time in the last three years (and only four last year), then more power to him.

I thought Miami was the one with the pushback. I don't think we quite have the cache to buck a P5 or espn.

Miami didn't want a short week and neither did App. GS can play LaLa on Thursday, fine with me, but I'll take an attendance record against the Canes in return.

Now that the gameday has been decided, time to turn speculation to kickoff time.... Night game?

Yeah, this is great news. Hope the game is later in the day (3:30 at earliest) but I'm expecting a noon kickoff.

tough time to be the AD for GS, cant find anyone willing to play in Statesboro, and next years schedule home schedule really sucks. I can imagine season ticket holders are upset, only 3 Saturday home games, and one of those games is Savanna State.

What makes you say noon?

I could see it being a nooner in order to get it on national TV. There are a slew of big national games that day, and I'm sure most will be 3:00 or later.

Later kick time would be better for us of course, but that's just details. Keeping it on Saturday was the key IMO.

Regardless of what time the game is played, this will be a good gauge as to where the program is. That is, "have we turned the corner" and can compete plus defeat P5 teams. The Tennessee game will be revealing too, getting tired of laying eggs like we did at Clemson/Michigan/etc.

I think how well we handle the MAC and C-USA teams on the schedule is a better gauge.

I'm afraid Tennessee will be another ugly one for us. I do have high hopes for the Miami game, though.

ya, Tenn should be a top 15, maybe top 10 team, hate to say it, but looks like another Clemson, hang close for a quarter, scare them alitte bit, get their full attention, and they blitz us with 21 points in a 5 minute span, just don't think, at this time, Tenn is a good measuring stick, of how far we have or haven't come. On the other hand, Miami, is a winnable game, and I would disappointed if we didn't atleast give them a good game. I watch Miami play FAU last year and it was an even game to mid third quarter, when the starting qb for FAU got heart, and Miami gradually pulled away.

Agreed. Our coaches and players are here to beat our peer schools consistently and then hopefully knock off a few P5's along the way. Judging them off results vs the P5 is a bit unfair.

Not saying we should defeat them (P5s), however, I believe it's a distinct possibility each and every time. Getting our asses handed to us and expecting it, then collecting a check (aka - money game) is something that I consider FCSish. We are not FCS anymore and should at least be competitive. Just my thoughts and I'm sticking with it.

Any inkling's on the actual game time for Miami and the rest of the schedule? I wasn't sure when the times get set in stone...

I would love a night game for this match, but I would predict either a noon or mid-afternoon start time due to the other games that will be on ESPN later that evening.

If we could get this game under the lights that would be absolutely unreal. While it is possibly the biggest home game we have ever had it unfortunately doesn't move the needle much on a national scale. I hope I can get some tickets without having to sell a kidney.
