Today while at a gas stop off I-95 in Dillon SC, I randomly met APP Football HOF Dwayne Pelham. He was decked out in Black & Gold and by his size I knew he probably played football at APP. Being that APP is sparsely represented in my neck of the woods I thought I would intrude and inquire about his background. Turns out his playing days are just after my partying days at APP, but we knew some of the same folks. He is super nice to have taken the time to talk APP football with me, even though it looked like he had a long drive back to Florida. He was recruited by current Houston Texan Stan Hixon, under Sparky Woods and spent some time with Coach Moore. He is in touch and highly supportive of APP football. He says he makes it up the Mountain to at least three games every season, so if any of you guys have the opportunity at a football game in the fall, like I did today by accident, take time to talk to one of the APP greats.
Dwayne, if you read this, thanks for your time today, you are a fine ambassador of Appalachian State!

Re: Dwayne Pelham Football HOF
Dwayne Pelham was a helluva football player and packed a lot of wallop in his frame. If you were ever hit by Pelham, it was a collision you didn't forget. Seems he must have taken great pride in delivering clean, hard hits and in leaving opposing players looking over their shoulders for the rest of the game.

Likewise #21!.. Wished we could have discussed APP football a while longer. I am going to hold you to your prediction about APP potentially having a better team this season. Tough schedule begins in Knoxville...Can't wait!HoFLB21 wrote:Thanks for the kind words Black Saturday. Good meeting you in the big city of Dillon. Until next time ASU4Life...
