The fact that we have a running back in the top 25 backs for 2016/17 is amazing!

Another ranking that means absolutely nothing IMO. The ranking that I would be more interested in is where does the STABLE of backs that App will have this coming season rank nationally? My guess is pretty damn high!

That is absolutely true. Look at the competition the rest of these backs are running against. Cox in that company is pretty good I'd say.

Last year I think he was 10th in G5 preseason, so I'd imagine 25th in all of FBS is an improvement.

Looks pretty good to me. Put the rest of our starters in the same spot and I'll be happy.

He is in the mix, and will have two games on TV to be showcased. His work will make his stock higher.

Honestly his overall numbers may not be as good this year. We have two backs, who if healthy, will run for over 1K yards.

Disrespect? I don't think so. Where does he need to rank in a preseason poll in order to have the proper respect?

I think that the word disrespect is easily in the top 5 overly used words of the past 20 years. I get sick of people saying that "they are disrespected". Nobody is disrespected before they do anything. And when I say this in terms of MC I mean this season. All of the preseason rankings mean nothing. I hope he absolutely tears it up this year. To be mentioned as one of the potential top 20 backs in the country is pretty damn good.

There are a lot of really good backs at Power 5 programs and for Marcus to be considered among the Top 25 while playing at a G5 is a huge honor. Considering that App (if healthy) has 2 other really good backs (maybe 3), Marcus can hopefully stay healthy, not be overworked and be in great form for the entire year. App could have a 3 headed monster in the backfield this year with Marcus as the bell cow. National preseason recognition for Marcus is great sign of "respect".

Not to mention the fact that most of the backs ranked ahead of him have either objectively better numbers or similar numbers accomplished in more competitive conferences.
This is not disrespect. Quite the opposite. Let's learn to take a compliment.

I wish someone would disrespect me enough to name me the 25th best in the country at something.

That's a good point and not a bad thing for the team or Cox himself. A couple years ago he had 40 and 36 carries in consecutive weeks. It worked out great in those games, but IMO that's not ideal in the long run. Last year he only topped 25 carries once, in the 3OT game vs. Troy, so we already saw the coaches manage his workload a bit.
It would make sense to spread the carries around a bit more this year. And with a veteran QB and more speed at WR, who knows, maybe this will be the year we start to throw the ball a bit more too.

There is just no way they are going to be able to keep Moore from getting his share which, by mid season, could very well be the majority of carries. At least half. He's too big, strong and fast and will have one year's experience to grow on. If that quartet of backs can stay healthy, Marcus total numbers will probably be his lowest. That's not a knock on Marcus either. It's just the result of an embrrassment of riches.

Any time we have a player at any position ranked in the top 25 in DI, that is a very, very good thing.

Just noticed he was 6th out of the G5 running backs on this list. Breida and the NMSU RB are ahead of him.

Breida and Cox are different types of runners, each in a system that plays to their strengths. Breida is faster, and he plays in an offense and with QBs where he often is on the edge with nobody close to him as soon as he touches the ball. Marcus' strength is his patience and vision - he waits for the hole to open, then makes a cut and hits it. (He's also a good pass protector, which isn't something Breida has to worry about.) That's not to say they wouldn't do well if they switched teams; they're both really talented regardless of system. But they both fit their respective offenses like a glove.

I agree East, Breida is a faster version of Upshaw (who is also a load in the open field).
Call me crazy, but I'm excited to see what Moore can do with another S&C offseason. I don't think we've ever been this good this deep at RB. It should afford us the opportunity to redshirt a talent freshman in Williams.
