Season Tickets - How Are We Doing?

Unread post by /\PP ST/\TE GRAD 09 » Thu May 05, 2016 10:11 am

Wanted to see if anyone knew a rough estimate of where season tickets sales stand at this point.

I heard we were ahead of last year, but that's a low bar. If we can't sale season tickets with this schedule I'm beginning to question what our fanbase wants.

All six games are on Saturday, no holidays, and a five time 1A champion visits the Rock. You can't find a better deal in college football than our season tickets this year.

There are two more as of last month. You'll find us in 111 for a long time.

I've been trying to talk several other friends into springing for them (grad years '10-13), but a few just got Panthers PSLs.

I'm not taking blame away from our fans in the event we don't have good season ticket sales prior to the 2016 season, but it certainly doesn't help that when you google "season tickets Appalachian State" only the 2015 season tickets article shows up. There isn't the proper link to 2016 ticket info on the entire first page of results.

I was never solicited. We've got to do a better job in the ticket office/Yosef club at marketing.

I'm going to try to buy season tickets this year but I'm still digging out of a hole. He's a good one though! At his 5 year check up he was 32 lbs. and 39 inches tall. We are on the charts!!! After starting way below the chart at 1 lb. 8.5 oz. I am ecstatic! The schedule this season almost approaches my enthusiasm for my son!

I got mine and the dates and OCC home games are terrific. But you have to admit that the Sunbelt home games are the bottom of the barrel.

It appears as though not as many are taking the "Guaranteed ticket for Miami game" bait. As AtlantaMountaineer points out, favorable date wise, but competition outside of Miami is pretty weak.

This is true --- we on the board all know that this schedule is the best ever however outside of Miami (which is the biggest ever) many of our fans just aren't into Georgia State and Idaho and UL Monroe, etc., like they were into the rivalries built up against Furman, Wofford, Elon, GA Southern (of course, still a rivalry) and even games against WCU --- I think this will take some time

The goal was 7,500 season tickets, an increase of 3,000.

We've got some time yet. My understanding is that renewals have been coming in fairly well. I don't believe the new season ticket demand has been as strong as originally expected. Overall Yosef dollars are up thanks, in part, to the increased giving required for various seating.

Remember, season tickets can be purchased at any time. The renewal deadline is to maintain prior year seating assignments. If you haven't purchased your season tickets, now would be a good time to do so. See you at The Rock!

Splitting season tickets this year with a buddy. I can only go to 1 or 2 games, same with him. We'll probably sell the others on stubhub. Not sure how realistic it is to sell a large number of 6 game season tickets when almost your entire alumni base is 2+hours away. Its tough to do especially for those that have families.

That's ambitious given the increase in ticket prices and the minimum YC donation levels in most of the stadium. I hope we hit that goal though! Go Apps!

Ambitious it may be. However, isn't that the point in setting goals? You can never acheive it if you don't openly define it. Right now I am just happy we have an AD that is aggressively trying to get more fans engaged.

I hope we shatter that 7,500 #. No reason we can't. We did it before during the AE years... 3,000 people don't just fall off the face of the earth.

They need to run a promotion that advertises that season ticket holders can buy the equivalent amount of single game tickets for the Miami game.

It's pretty sad we have to entice people with the Miami game in order to get them to buy season tickets.

This is going to take a while. Our fan base knew the SoCon well. They knew who was good, understood the rivalries and enjoyed watching us stomp the bad teams. Now we are in a conference with some very good teams our fans probably understand and some very bad teams they couldn't care less about. Who cares if we hammer Idaho, GaSt etc.? But hammering western was always fun for all. Once we develop some good rivalries outside of Southern, I think we will get there quick with stAte, and some teams we hate ULL (with that whiney coach) and GaSt might fill those slots, I think fan excitement about the conference will increase. Also adding a conference championship game will make every game more important and therefore more exciting.

You are correct !!! - same as I was saying earlier - and add to that not only the knowledge of the rival team as a rival but most fans, even the casual ones, could name the Furman coach or the Wofford coach or the Elon coach + players like Riddle or Hoover or Breitenstein or Adrian Peterson or Ingle Martin --- Hell, I'm not sure I can name one other SunBelt coach much less players on other teams and I have watched every SunBelt game ---

The university as a whole isn't good at engaging with alumni. Unfortunate to say the least. I'm not calling anyone out specifically but I just got a buddy of mine to join Yosef and buy season tickets. We graduated together in 2011 and he is extremely successful in his job but has never once been reached by anyone from the athletic department.

I'm not blaming any ONE person, of course. But the fact remains, there's a lot of untapped potential for reoccurring revenue in the form of season tickets.
