Conference Championship Games

OK - I might have missed something recently about this --- I read where the Big 12 can have a championship game (2017) even with only 10 teams and right now, no divisions --- What affect does this decision have on the SunBelt and whether or not a SunBelt Championship Game is in the near future? ---

From what I've read, the Sun Belt will more than likely hold a championship game in 2018. That's the year after New Mexico State and Idaho are gone and it will be Coastal's first year as a bowl eligible team. The site is still to be determined.

I'm hoping that the Sun Belt follows what all G5 conferences not named MAC are doing. Best record hosts the game. I'd love the opportunity for this game to be played in Boone. Honestly, they'd be silly not to do it this way considering how spread out the conference is from Texas to NC. Not as many App or GS fans could make a potential one week notice trip to say New Orleans (Likely neutral site).

Starting the championship game in 2018 seems like a likely situation to consider, but who says the the SunBelt to take a reasonable attitude about the game site.

I think that I read some information the Sunbelt put out saying that when the conferance started having a championship game it would be at the home of the team with the best record. I can"t wait for this to take place. Playoff style football in Boone in December. Glad we made the move but I do miss the playoffs.

It would be fun to get the Rock rockin in early December for a conference championship. I may be naive, but I think that with a conference championship on the line, we could definitely get good attendance at the Rock in December.

Wonder if students would get free admission for an on-campus conference championship game?

Wasn't free during the FCS playoffs so my guess would be no. Should be though, considering they're the backbone to a rowdy rock.

The Sun Belt might require that students are charged but what happened during the FCS playoffs was because it was the NCAA's show. No correlation.

Might be putting the cart before the horse since we are two years away from this possibly happening? Anyway, would the Sun Belt be so fickle as to require students to pay the full amount or could they be discounted? Just asking.

That certainly creates a huge inventive to be the #1 going into the game. I worry that a CCG away at places like Lafayette or Jonesboro might force fans to choose whether to attend the CCG or bowl game, as two long trips in December might not be feasible for some folks.
The worst case scenario is a neutral site-- as it would likely be in NOLA-- which is further away than all but 2 of the
2018 Sun Belt schools (Texas State and Lafayette).

Same desire for revenue. Sun Belt will want that money just as much as NCAA.

Students are always offered a discounted rate I believe. I don't know if that's the NCAA being generous or the schools picking up part of the cost. I went to the Final Four with my ex g/f who attended George Mason when they made that magical run. Students got those tickets at a much lower rate. Now, we're talking 10 years ago, and things may have changed, but I'm sure it be a lower cost.

I believe the discounted student tickets are on a school by school basis. If I recall correctly, App chose to increase the ticket price of paying non-students to the point that they could offer student tickets for just $5.
The NCAA could careless, so long as they get their $$$.

Farther away, but it would allow you to plan in advance since you'd at least know the destination with more than a week's notice. Plus, let's be honest, where would most of us rather travel - NOLA or Jonesboro?
Doesn't matter though - it's likely to be at a campus site, which is fine also.

I don't remember having to pay my freshman year when we played Illinois State

Play the game at the higher "ranked" home stadium. Attendance would be terrible at a neutral site.
