Well, now we know what we're made of.

And I'm not talking about the football team. The so called "fans" that have taken over this board disgust me. The last couple of weeks, after nice wins, you could hear crickets on here. Nobody wants to talk about it. Today, we have a lousy game( and yes, I admit it was a lousy game...I was as disappointed in our poor performance as anyone) and the board is all a-buzz, heads need to roll, a stupid thread about "defering the win", "changes need to be made." Hello...we just changed out the whole offensive coaching staff! You ready to change them all out again?

It's a young team. The defense is being put together with duct tape and bailing wire. I still say they will continue to get better. Real fans rally around to support their team, not circle around like a bunch of stinking vultures.

Not to argue but it's not up to you or I to define a "real" fan. Message boards across the country have these exact type posts, and many, far more hardcore that what I read on here. I'm not judging anyone for their opinion on a silly message board.

well maybe so but damn it man i cant tell you how many times people scream and yell at coaches and players...last i checked, unless you have special esp, the coaches cant hear you...unless you played college ball and have some insight, shut the eff up...yep some balls are catchable or coverage is missed but until youre in their shoes...you're not in their shoes. this is a young team and it'll be ok....

"It's a young team. The defense is being put together with duct tape and bailing wire. I still say they will continue to get better. "

Why are we in this situation? Dale Jones is in his third season and each year the defense has gotten worse. We are now giving up an average of 28.9 pts/gm. His first season in 2010 we were giving up 23.6, 2011 we gave up 23.8. He has had a chance to move the bar in the positive direction by this point. At least two recruiting classes are all his. By any measurement we have an atrocious defense. We are not even average in FCS. How much longer do we have to wait for him to turn it around? I think the clock has run out on Dale. The verdict is in and he is not getting it done.

On offense, I think we do have to give it a chance. These coaches have not even had their own recruiting class to work with. We have gone down for several years now in recruiting. That will take at least one class of their own to turn it around. Probably a couple to get us back on right track.

The defense has gotten worse because we graduated both defensive tackles on the 2-deep, which is one of the most important spots on the field when you run a base 3-man front. Wylie and Aiken are tough guys to replace. In games like today, it shows when you have freshmen in the middle. Sure would have been nice to have big John Rizor out there too.

I do think that coach Jones needs to answer for why we continue to use a 6-man front against these types of offenses though. Why do we need 5 DB's to defend the option?

I agree 100 % about our fans and our message boards, the last two weeks very little has been posted about great wins, but as soon as we lose, man all the message boards go crazy. Also, I wasn't at the game, but watching it on the computer, there seemed to be alot of empty seat, I know, I know, the official count will be over 28 ,000, but... As far as Jones goes, I dont know, last week I thought was one of his best coaching jobs, then we have this week, I dont think he has done a horrible job, but, facts dont lie, the last 3 years, stat wise, the defense has gotten worse, and ya, you can say we are young, injuries, but fair or not, coaches are payed for results. We hold our staff to a higher standard than other programs, he needs to get this thing turned around.

I agree with ASU-FTW. I was sitting over in the end zone stands & by the time it was halftime, more than half of the fans left. It was only 17-14! Why do these fans leave so early? All b/c it's "too cold"? Sheesh
