Per ESPN FPI, our chances to knock off UT are 4.9% or a 22:1 chance to win.
UT has a 12-1 chance to win the CFB Playoff. So we have about half the chance to beat UT as they do to win CFB Playoff.

This isn't so bad when compared to the following:
VT - 12.7% (we are just under half as likely to win as VT)
Ohio - 1.5% (so we are 3x more likely to beat UT than Ohio)
South Carolina - 11.3%
Kentucky - 6.2%
Missouri - 7.5%

Not 5%. Can't even round up?

I was joking about how one can't just be rounding up to 5% from 4.9% as the post before mine was questioning.

Oh ok I gotcha. I was being sarcastic about the percentage. You see those numbers scroll across the ESPN screen all the time. They can't even squeeze us out another tenth? Lol. Really stupid number. I accept that we have less than a 50% chance of winning- hence we are the underdog. Simple enough.

About a week ago I started a thread asking about the probability of a 3-0 v. 0-3 start. I suggested that we had a 0.009 probability (0.9%) of starting 3-0. My starting point for that was the money line, which at the time, had Tennessee at 1,500. I figured that meant Tennessee had a 0.9333 probability of winning (93.33%). Since then the money line has dropped a bit to -1,470, a slight reduction in their probability of winning (0.93197). I just think it is interesting that the guys in the desert think we have a better shot than do the folks at ESPN.

I don't math. Let's tee the ball up and play the game.

I know we are big time....big league underdogs to the Vols. With that said......If we were to drop them...I hope they run the table on the SEC or at least beat VT following.

Realistically, we will be lucky just to hang with them.

ALL this being said. With a team full of lofty expectations I just don't want to get bitch slapped. That really deflates the balloon quite a bit.
