We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Depth chart surprise
I keep reading Clifton Duck's name. Sounds like he is making noise. Who else do we have that might make a move on the depth chart?

Re: Depth chart surprise
Sounds like Dez Reed is going to see a lot of action at DE. In terms of other freshmen, not sure if they'll be in the 2 deep, but it appears Evans, Jalen Virgil and Jordan Fehr will all play.

Re: Depth chart surprise
Sounds like it's between Duck and Hayes to start opposite Mondo, which of course means both will play a lot.

Re: Depth chart surprise
Virgil is immediately the fastest player on the team. Dexter Jackson, olympic type speed. 10.4 seconds 100m Georgia state champ.CornCobPipes wrote:Anybody got any idea on the fastest 4 or 5 guys on the squad?

In no specific order, the next fastest guys are likely Deltron Hopkins and Mondo Williams. Maybe Jaquil Capel (coming off a knee injury though).
Then I'd put Darrynton Evans in there somewhere. Maybe even ahead of the 3 guys above. He's run a 10.7 in the 100m.

Darrynton Evans, Mondo, Capel, Gray, and Deltron are up there too.

Re: Depth chart surprise
I found some track PRs on the aforementioned guys. Obviously this doesn't necessarily directly translate to football speed, but a decent barometer. The upperclassmen could also have gotten faster since these are high school times:
Virgil 100m - 10.40
Hopkins 100m - 10.57
Evans 100m - 10.74
Capel 100m - 10.94
Mondo 100m - 11.08
Hopkins 200m - 21.04
Virgil 200m - 21.75
Capel 200m - 22.03
Gray 200m - 23.03
Evans 200m - 23.80
Couldn't find a 200 for Mondo or a 100 for Gray.
Also this was posted on the Scout site back in May during "Max Week"

Wow! Just finished reading some overlooked above.
What impresses me most besides Virgil is Gray and Townes because those are all big guys.

I'll take fast DB's over receivers. I want receivers who can catch it, especially over the middle and in crunch time. Don't get me wrong- speed is sweet.

2015 max week, Gibbs ran a 4.37, fastest on the team. Capel ran a 4.39 in 2015.CornCobPipes wrote:Thanks again for the above info guys.

Hope Evans comes along quick....we could definitely use him to mix things up a bit. Pretty good size too. Didn't realize he was that fast.

Re: Depth chart surprise
Hope the offense isn't as vanilla this year. Saw some improvement last year but not what I would like to see with the good line play we had.
Realize some plays have to develop but hope Lamb improves on zipping ball out little quicker and has less under throws so these guys can move the ball.

When playing the stiffer comp slow delay will eat your lunch unless you got a speedster stud QB or a BEAST OLINE.

Re: Depth chart surprise
Said it when that list was released, but for Gray to run that time at his size is spectacular. Hope he puts it all together this year, because if so somebody's going to be calling his name next April.CornCobPipes wrote:Wow! Just finished reading some overlooked above.

That is a great time for Townes as well - don't think this is a secret, but he's another guy who's reportedly expected to have a breakout season this year.
