I know most of us remember a few years back when the new turf was installed and there was an election to go with grass endzones instead of our traditional black endzones. Our beloved black endzones will make a return for the 2016 season and be ready to go for our game against ODU. Excellent job by the athletics department to take fan feedback / tradition into consideration as they continue to improve gameday at the Rock! Looking forward to seeing what else they have in store for the rest of the season including the Miami game.

I really hope this includes a new typeface as well. The two lines of text in each endzone looked very bad, IMO.

Yes!! The black end zones are sooo much better then the grass!

They will be replaced with BLACK turf BEFORE 1st game (ODU).

Agree it's ironic - but would we prefer to wait until next year to put black endzones in? It takes too long to put them in to wait until after the ODU game so I think it was do it now or wait a year. With the Miami game looming - would much rather have this done now instead of later.

Oh no...I completely agree. They honestly should have always remained black IMO. Any word on if the design would be the same as now just with a black background? Or if we would return to the old look with Applachian in the north end zone, and Mountaineers in the south?

Nothing official---coming soon I heard-- but I suspect APP STATE as that is our new "brand".

The current endzones were Jerry Moore's idea when the turf was replaced in spring 2011. He also wanted the script Mountaineers on each sideline in the gold and the crew started to put it down, but it looked horrible and was removed.

Also, the crew put two shades of green in one of the endzones and had to replace it mid-season when 30,000 people realized it.

Along with the temp bleachers, which look much different than the golf tournament style stands have in the past, there's going to be a lot of "touch-ups" done around KBS in the next 10 days. Lots going on.

I'd like to echo Yosef's thanks to the athletic admin. This is something that most of us have been hoping for for some time. I've been itching to say something about this for weeks. Major kudos to DG and staff!

I'd also like to point out that this shows we have an admin willing to listen to input from the fans.

Agree. I actually dislike that more than the lack of color. I have to think that as long as they're changing one, they'll change the other.
