Piedmont Alumni Chapter, '16 Viewing Parties
Sup guys. Just wanted to see if any Mountaineers here in the Triad (W-S, Greensboro, High Point, Burlington etc) are interested in getting together and watch some of the upcoming games, especially the Tennessee one.

Re: Piedmont Alumni Chapter, '16 Viewing Parties
I'm in. We need to find a new spot to view games. I don't think the piedmont association has done any viewing parties in a while.
I still wish we had more events/involvement. There are plenty of alum here and IMO it would be a good idea to connect (other than 8 am downtown once every other month on a Wednesday).

Awesome. Yeah, it'd be awesome if the piedmont association could schedule more events other than the 8am Green Bean events. I have to work 8-5 every day so I can't ever make it. I've tried to reach Maurice McCord before, the guy in charge, but he never responded. As of right now I was thinking of meeting somewhere in Greensboro. I'll call around and see if any of the bars have SEC network.

Re: Piedmont Alumni Chapter, '16 Viewing Parties
I've reached out them as well but no response. I understand they have a limited budget, but I am not asking anyone to pay for anything, Just schedule meet ups.
I have thought about places to watch games in Greensboro. Although there are some cool breweries they have a limited TVs and may just show ACC. Perhaps world of beer? Or even some smaller places like craft city, somewhere at Lindley park or even pig pounder ( not the best beer, but they have good guest beers. And they are always hurting for business and have several big TVs ).

Re: Piedmont Alumni Chapter, '16 Viewing Parties
I've been looking at the alumni website and it is showing the Char Bar on Lawndale as a location for the viewing party for the Tennessee game. Is this official? I ask because I'm looking at the Piedmont Chapter's upcoming events and it's only showing the morning breakfast.
I'd hate to show up with my wife and no other App fan is there.

My wife and I are going to try and go. I would like to start more "meet ups" other than the crappy 8 am breakfast. It looks like there is a new contact for the chapter. Is he taking over for the other Maurice guy?kiddbrewer wrote:I've been looking at the alumni website and it is showing the Char Bar on Lawndale as a location for the viewing party for the Tennessee game. Re: Piedmont Alumni Chapter, '16 Viewing Parties
I have seen 2 names, Sam Bostian on the page that lists all the viewing parties and Maurice McCord on the page that lists all the chapters. So to answer you question, I don't know.boonetown1 wrote:My wife and I are going to try and go. I would like to start more "meet ups" other than the crappy 8 am breakfast. Re: Piedmont Alumni Chapter, '16 Viewing Parties
So CharBar is the place for the Tenn game? If that is not the location I would vote for PIg Pounder. Pig Pounder is a bit closer to the middle of the city and if they are needing the business they may appreciate a group and work with us in other ways. But if CharBar is the location I will try and make it.
Obviously I am in McLeansville but would Kernersville be an option if the goal is to have a Triad group, or is W-S on their own? (Or they drive to Greensboro.)

I'm going to assume CharBar is the place since it's the one listed on the alumni site. Of course, we all know what happens when one assumes.

I'll try and make this. It would be nice to put a name to a face (or maybe not, I guess it depends on the face.)kiddbrewer wrote:I'm going to assume CharBar is the place since it's the one listed on the alumni site. Of course, we all know what happens when one assumes.

As long as you don't think of Quasimodo when you see my face.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote:I'll try and make this. For the record I have no control over where my brain takes me, but I have a decent filter so if I am thinking Quasimodo I should be able to not lead on at the least.kiddbrewer wrote:As long as you don't think of Quasimodo when you see my face.McLeansvilleAppFan wrote:I'll try and make this. Piedmont Apps -
I spoke with Summer Wisdom in the Alumni office and while I was talking with her inquired about the Piedmont Chapter. Sam Bostian is the current acting president of the chapter. His e-mail address is bostians@ccl.org. Be on the lookout for an e-mail from the Alumni Office asking for interest in being apart of the Piedmont Chapter Leadership Board. It sounds like there is a renewed push to reinvigorate the Chapter, much like is currently occurring in the Raleigh area.
Summer connected me with Sam and he has indicated he recently recruited someone in the Piedmont/Triad area to assist with the Chapter's social media presence. There should be some new posts on the Chapter Facebook page soon.

Thanks for checking into this. Did you happen to ask Sam if the CharBar I'd the place to go for the viewing party?AppDawg wrote:Piedmont Apps -

Re: Piedmont Alumni Chapter, '16 Viewing Parties
Hi all,
I recently went out to the Piedmont alumni night at the Greensboro Grasshoppers game and met Sam. Sam is just now taking reigns on the Piedmont chapter and he is indeed making a push to improve. A few others have joined in as well. The Facebook page will also become active again. As a heads up the Char bar is the plan for Tennessee. I will be at the game so not able to make the event. Hopefully a great turnout nonetheless. Hope to meet some of you guys soon and keep seeing growth in the area. Go Neers!

Re: Piedmont Alumni Chapter, '16 Viewing Parties
CharBar was packed. The food and drink was good. The service was good. I hope the management was pleased with the amount of money they made (they got enough from me). The only thing missing? The W.
Overall though, I was very pleased with the night. A shout out to Sam Bostian for resurrecting the Piedmont Chapter. I'm looking forward to other outings there for away games.

It was a great event at Char Bar 7, except the ending. I counted about 60 people outside and I am not sure how many were inside.
