Positives

1) the entire defense, especially Stout, Fuller, and of course, the LBs
2) the offensive line
3) Marcus Cox
4) overall team speed
When you have a good defense and a good offensive line, you are going to win plenty of games. I'm very encouraged.

For the size difference I was really excited to see how our lines controlled most of the game. Cox is a beast. His vision is nuts.

Lots of positives, for sure.
1. Prepared as opposed to not being prepared in the past and getting the hell beat out of us playing against 4-5 star SEC players.
2. Coulda and Shoulda, our X's and O's worked well.
3. Satterfield embarrassed Butch Jones considering the disparity in the economics of the programs and the Jimmys and Joes on the field, leads to a negative for APP that Satterfield has to be some "short" coaching lists now of some programs that can multiply his salary. Satterfield won't be a Mountaineer much longer in my opinion, 11-2 last year and what he did in Knoxville last night.
4. Watch out Mark Richt.

How about DUCK. He played incredible as a true freshman. The play they scored a touchdown on was still good coverage.

If 500 of us board members donated an extra $1,000, we could double Satt's salary. Food for thought

I was at the game last night and the defense seemed to be just flying to the ball and gang tackling everywhere. I was with a bunch of UT guys and they were amazed at our LBs and the way they tackled. Pretty impressed by our OL too. It was a game we should and could have won but it just didn't happen but couldn't be prouder of the heart that team displayed last night. Cox was the best RB on the field last night and that's saying something!

I thought that as a team we played very well. The two players that stuck out for me were Duck and Vic Johnson. It was very evident that we have some smart football players that take to the coaching. On Caple's punt return, there were two blockers that got caught out of position but instead of blocking in the back, they put there hands up and did all that they could to slow the pursuit. We are a talented team for sure.
One thing that I would caution some on here of is to not get to caught up in our success against Tenn's OL and expect it to be easier against "inferior opponents". I don't think that their OL was that good and we will start playing teams that have faced our 3-4 scheme and will have film and memory on how to plan for it.

One positive is that IF we can beat Miami (after beating ODU of course), last night's game might actually have positioned us for a realistic run at the NY6 access bowl.
If we'd gotten crushed, then even a win over Miami would probably have been seen as a fluke by some (the same ones giving us no credit today). Now, if we go 11-1 with that near-miss being the only blemish, you have to think we'll at least be a contender.
Yes, I know that's way down the road. But it's something to keep in the back of our minds.

This! Let's not put too much credence on this performance as an indication that we waltz thru the rest of the season. Seems a lot of assumptions are being made that underestimate some of our future opponents.

I am a one game at a time kind of guy but I said something similar to ASUChipman today. I have long felt that for us to get the NY6 invite, we had to play Tenn. close and win out the rest. You can't get much closer than ending regulation tied.

He may retire in Boone but I don't know if he will leave for another gig or not. His wife is from Spruce Pines and I think that he would like to stay at least until his kids are older. We will see.

I hope we're ok after this year. I can't think of any regional p5 jobs that will open this year (maybe vandy or nc state), but all others have relatively new coaches. And I do think it will need to be a regional p5 to pull him away.

Too early to tell of course, but State, Georgia Tech and Kentucky coaches all potentially on the hot seat, while UNC and/or Miss. St. coaches could theoretically leave for other jobs.

The best thing for us is that this game was played on Thursday night and was not lost in all the games that will be played today. Nearly every SEC fan and coach, as well as media and others around the country tuned in to see just what Tenn was made of. Was the hype real?
What they saw was App dominating. Those who watched were able to form their own opinion vs listening to the ESPN talking heads that "tenn played horrible"
Too bad ratings for the SEC Network are not public information.

Very true. Seems to me we lost a couple after we beat Michigan

That is very true. In fact, after we scored that first touchdown, "App State" and "Tennessee" were the top trending terms on Twitter for over 3 hours. I think the team really took advantage of the spotlight to show the country what they are capable of this season.

I was speaking more the fact that the transitive properties get tossed around a lot. Tennessee fans loved to speak of there talent level difference. Recruiting stars don't rank heart and work ethic?
