Re: Playoffs?
2012 is our weakest team since 2004, we didn't deserve playoffs then. Bottom line is we've beaten nobody yet plus SOS is bad. I thought Montana was a good win when it happened but was I wrong as the seaon has unfolded.
We are young and injured and thin and weak in some key areas, as a result of holes in recruiting.

Re: Playoffs?
A playoff bid gives us extra weeks of practice where the younger and inexperienced players can gain more experience - I think we will be in at 7-3 (not counting ECU) with losses to two top 5 teams and to a team that was ranked as high as 10 I believe who also beat the #1 team ---Black Saturday wrote:2012 is our weakest team since 2004, we didn't deserve playoffs then. Re: Playoffs?
If we get in this year it will be on reputation alone. We will have no wins over playoff participants. Our resume is very weak. I think we are on the outside looking in at 7-4.WVAPPeer wrote:A playoff bid gives us extra weeks of practice where the younger and inexperienced players can gain more experience - I think we will be in at 7-3 (not counting ECU) with losses to two top 5 teams and to a team that was ranked as high as 10 I believe who also beat the #1 team ---Black Saturday wrote:2012 is our weakest team since 2004, we didn't deserve playoffs then. Re: Playoffs?
It's a very big bubble right now. I think if we beat GSU, we get in regardless of the Furman game. However the interesting scenario is the likely one, if we lose to GSU and beat Furman. At that point, there will be a lot of watch and see on the 17th.
Here's the teams that are chasing the 7 D1 win plateau. In parenthesis are the number of games they can lose and still get there. Currently there are 41 teams vying for 20 spots. Obviously some of them have weaker resumes than us, but it's still worth noting.

Re: Playoffs?
We may not get in but I think 7-4 with losses to (7)Wofford, (2) GSU and a hot Citadel team that beat GSU and an expanded field we should get in. I don't see us dropping below 15 even with a loss to GSU.
A win against Furman must be convincing.

Re: Playoffs?
I know it is just a projection and will likely not be how it turns out but a home game vs. UT-Martin for a shot to play NAU? I'll take that every day.BUTCH1991 wrote:Some odd matchups, but at least we're in this one.

Re: Playoffs?
I think we are definitely a bubble team if we lose to GSU (I think we are in otherwise). We may get a look because of our draw, or the amount we could bid. Or, we may not...appst89 wrote:If we get in this year it will be on reputation alone. We will have no wins over playoff participants. Our resume is very weak.
