We take the Vols to overtime on National television, and lose three votes? WTF?

UT drops four spots.
Until we start finishing the job we will not get any respect, that simple.

A loss is a loss. The only vote we got this week was probably from our own Coach Satt. If we win, we can get some more votes back.

Satt, GaState, and So.Alabama are all voters. You'd think at least 2 of them would vote for us....

if "LSUDad" was a voter, he would have given us his vote this week.

I admit I'm surprised and disappointed by that. Meanwhile USC still gets 6 points after losing by a thousand. Must be nice.

We did get consideration in the ESPN power poll.

I'd bet three of our four preseason votes went to USA this week.

Just win and the poll will take care of itself.

Withers (TXSt) and Bowden (Akron) both vote as well. If it wasn't Satt, any one of the aforementioned coaches could have voted for App to help strengthen their SOS.

Really can't get upset with a "good" loss. Win the next two, one convincingly and one period and we get some notice

AP poll out - no votes for us, and Tennessee drops eight(!) spots. No respect, I tell ya.

On the bright side, Miami is in at #25, so they'll probably be ranked heading into 9/17.

Yea we are still a ways from Houston status. At this point to big time FB heads the outcome means Tennessee did not show up. We know the truth....

Voters treating it as a "bad win" for UT??? If so that's jacked up.

We have to be able to close the deal. Simple.

We had three chances to win the game and one to tie and didn't get it done on any of them. There were several other U ranked teams who did beat ranked teams this weekend.

Both polls are dominated by Power 5 teams this early in the season. Other than Houston, no team is close to top 25 other than Boise St. This time last year after Clemson loss we were not close to being on anyone's radar for either poll. Keep winning, beat the U and we're on our way!!! Let's take Miami by 3 touchdowns! No playing around!

We all know that rankings are part of all sports but I have always felt like college football rankings are pointless until at least after 6 games. Alabama is probably the best team (if an argument has to be made). Look at Texas and Wisconsin. Neither was preseason ranked, won one game and leap into the top 20. One aspect of the BCS/playoff ranking that is good is that they don't put that poll out until teams get a bunch of games under their belts. The USA Today poll is cool but come on, to say who the 45th best team is? The only reasonable ranking they got right was UNCC.

Does anyone here actually think we are a top 25 team? That means there are only 24 FBS teams that are better than we are. I think we are good, but getting to 20-22 teams that are OBVIOUSLY better than we are takes about a minute. Then there are another 15-20 that are worth discussing (most of which have a huge reputationial advantage over us).
