“How can you take this team lightly?” an incredulous Richt answered. “How can anybody who knows football take this team lightly? We don’t even have to say that to our guys. They’ve seen the film. They watched them play against Tennessee. They know.
“It’s really almost an insult to have to answer the question. Not being rude to you, but this is a really good football team and everybody knows it and we’re geared up to try to do the best we can to play great that day.’’

"The Hurricanes (2-0) will fly into a regional airport that can't accommodate a full-size jet, so Miami will take a smaller-than-usual plane. As such, some support staff got bumped from the charter for commercial flights. And then there's lodging issues; a long ride awaits the players from the airport to their hotel 20 minutes from Appalachian State's campus in Boone, North Carolina, while school officials and cheerleaders will stay even farther away." USA TODAY excerpt
Wish we didn't have this mere inconvenience.

Oh god can't believe they are above riding in crop dusters. And the mule rides are quite an experience. Mama Sue's Boarding House has a bathroom with running water on each floor. Snobs

The reality is such things can keep some schools from scheduling us in Boone.

Hilarious, considering it takes them over an hour to get to their own stadium.

That is the reality. Just like we say we have to cater to the players for music and uniforms etc. they are a step up and have to cater when it comes to travel and lodging. That is in addition to their support staff and coaches who are used to a higher level of accommodation. Sad but very true.

This is pretty funny. I see your point, but they likely stay in a hotel close to the stadium the night before the game. A lot of larger programs get hotels for home games to prevent distractions. Even those with on campus stadiums.

Florida State used to always stay in Thomasville, GA for home games. That's about 45 miles away for a home game.

Maybe we should offer tents on the field?

I know you are just making a statement of fact, but we need to remember that Boone being relatively remote is a huge part of the appeal. Maybe we'll get a so-called full service hotel at some point but obviously the airport "issue" will remain. Ultimately, we need to focus on things we can control, which is ensuring that the teams and fans that make the trip, however difficult, have a good experience.

Hell, Miami has to ride about 45 minutes or so from campus to play in their "home" stadium in front of a few thousand fans.

It never stopped Penn State. Back in the day it was voted the worst stadium to travel to.

Hey the only other thing State College has going for it besides PSU is the headquarters of Accuweather. Well we have Rays Weather!

Snobs was just a joke. Thought it kind of fit the other stupid stuff I typed.

I assume they are staying in Banner Elk at the Best Western. There are worse places in the world than Banner Elk and it is not a bad drive to Boone. I wish it was later in the season so they could enjoy the high country in its Fall glory. Anyway, suck it up 'canes. Can't wait till Saturday.

I believe Gillin said on the BGP a few weeks ago, Miami opted to fly into and stay in Hickory. AJ/BigC prob can confirm my memory.
