We are in need of someone to take over the maintenance of the MMB. Yosef has done it for a long time, and we are grateful for all he has done, but life happens and he no longer has the time to devote to its upkeep. If anyone here is interested in helping to keep the board running, please let me know via DM.

Who said the meeting was for the head baseball coach? I don't see anywhere that gives that info out.asu66 wrote:27 Hrs 40 Min 'til the BOT gathers by video conf. to study/approve the new ASU head baseball coaching contract. Announcement sometime Wednesday? Will the name leak tomorrow?

You're not going to stir up an MMB ruckus with me, Mr. BlackandGold. I'm as BlackandGold as you are and probably have been for a lot longer. You apparently didn't look very closely at the title of the thread.
In fact, no one said the meeting was for a new baseball coach. I entitled the thread "Hiring of new head baseball coach near?" That punctuation at the end--just inside the quotation mark is a question mark.
I'm just wishing and hoping, for the sake of our program, that the meeting is, at least, for a head baseball coach. I'd actually like for it to be for filling all of our coaching vacancies.

Re: Hiring of new head baseball coach near?
This is an exciting and very important time for our program. Whoever we hire will need to start recruiting our locker room immediately. After a sub par year and coach getting fired, the easy thing for our players to do will be to pack up and leave, and we need to avoid as much attrition as possible. If the BOT is meeting this afternoon, I would expect that an offer would be extended this evening or tomorrow morning. Since the 4 names were leaked on another thread, I have not heard anything.
Any names started to leak about who it is or at least who has been on campus? Anymore information, from a time standpoint, as to when we are expecting to extend an offer?

Brant with the 20-minute teaser! Grrrr...though I'm sure the new women's tennis coach will also be an important hire, as they all are at this point. Let's hope the tennis hire is a good one, as a strong Olympic program all the way around is going to be essential to building a total package athletic program. That having been said, I'm sure a baseball hire is up at the on-deck circle.firemoose wrote:

Re: Hiring of new head baseball coach near?
This was an odd situation of coincidence and secrecy. An AD doesn't want his coaching searches compromised by media, so secrecy can be paramount for employers and employees alike.
First, the Head Women's Tennis Coach HR posting, as of 10 pm on July 5th with a coach about to sign a contract, is still up. You can apply for the job right now.
The coincidence came when on Thursday, the press release announcing the BOT meeting regarding "coach's contract" on Tuesday was put out. On the same day, the Head Baseball Coach posting on the App State HR website was taken down. It seemed rational to think both were connected. Turns out they weren't. The baseball coach posting was taken down just after the mandatory 30 day HR period while the WTEN posting has been up for nearly two months.
With the seemingly-accidental act of not notifying media of the surprise BOT meeting (you have to give 72 hours notice) just under a month ago, you bet there was an impetus to make sure it was done right this time around.
Something that added onto the odd situation was the fact that the private session of the BOT meeting lasted almost a hour. The WTEN contract was the only item on the agenda. These contract approval meetings usually last just over 30 minutes with the public sessions (i.e. vote) lasting under five minutes.
Turns out, a reasonable assumption was wrong this time.

Not trying to start anything. Just didn't want ppl to assume the BOT meeting was for head baseball coach.
Edited: to apologize about Winston Salem journal guy. I misread one of his reports earlier in the week. I realize that his repoets yesterday were not inaccurate. I assume he was at campus, but I thought he tweeted sometime several days ago about the Tuesday meeting being for a baseball coach. My apologies to all involved.

Blackandgold, Winston Salem journal guy had correct information and actually proved your point for you. You should probably take your own advice and sit back and let all this play out.

Re: Q
I hope we don't get hung up the D1 thing. Had that been the requirement in the past we never would have landed Pollard.asu66 wrote:Gillin's vacancy announcement called for two things:bigCasu wrote:Board of Trustees Conference Call 7/14/2016 2pm to discuss Head Baseball Coach Contract
