Liking the free tv.
Starting pitcher for us doing a pretty good job through 5. Couple of errors. Down 2-0. Their pitcher making us look bad hitting.

Re: Coastal
As was the case at ETSU a few weeks back another costly error (catcher to third base). Once again third baseman misses the catch, same errors over and over.

Re: Coastal
Southern just put up a five-spot in the T7 to go up 7-5 on State, trying to help us go to Statesboro on Monday.

And State hit a go-ahead Grand Slam in the B8 and holds on for a 9-7 win.T-Dog wrote:Southern just put up a five-spot in the T7 to go up 7-5 on State, trying to help us go to Statesboro on Monday.
Now we need to beat Coastal at least once.

Re: Coastal
Hope we can take at least one game, however, when you haven't scored a run in 16 consecutive innings it's hard to win.

Re: Coastal
Unfortunately, the team has collapsed down the stretch...I believe that's eleven out of the last 12 that they have dropped.

Re: Coastal
Just thinking the same, the team was performing a lot better during the first half of the season. I realize the competition has gotten a little tougher down the stretch, however, it does appear they have dropped off somewhat. I'm still hoping for a win in the next two games to avoid the cellar, unfortunately, it's not looking good. Hope I'm wrong.

Re: Coastal
Well, a 4-2 loss, despite a two-run homer by Avery Jackson in the ninth plus State beating Southern again seals the end. Saturday is the last game of the 2017 season.
Take a snapshot of the roster, because next year, it will look completely different.

Re: Coastal
We went to the game tonight. This is a good group of kids and they're gritty, but there was a visible talent gap between the two programs.
To second what TDog says, was told there's 18 freshmen coming in next year. I was also told that the kids love playing for Kermit.
Finally, if we want to compete with coastal in baseball we have a zillion miles to go with our facility. Theirs was really impressive.

@Heff & T-Dog thanks for the posts. I've heard/seen similar things as well. Kermit has our program pointed in the right direction and we're in for a fun ride. We just need to get butts in seats!

Re: Coastal
If there is any consolation we will finish ahead of Monroe (West Division). There still is one game left and it sure would be nice for the team to go out with a win over the current CWS Champs.

Re: Coastal
The stAte and UNC-A losses were difficult. But the last 8 L's really are not unexpected. For perspective It is perhaps the most difficult stretch of our entire schedule. Troy was the "easiest" team we played in that stretch with RPI of 107. The next lowest, the series we are currently playing against coastal... they are 47 and ranked in top 25.
Would love to scratch out 1 more W and hit 20 and sneak into the tournament. Nonetheless it has been a good 1st season with Kermit. Excited to see the leap forward we take next season.

Re: Coastal
This has been a season of ups and downs. Let's not forget that baseball unlike other sports really takes 20-25 guys who can compete. We really do not even have half of that right now from a pure talent stand point.

Re: Coastal
Besides the seniors, I doubt we'll see Brill back. He's going to be drafted and will sign if he is.
As of now, Stroup and Hamel also aren't coming back as well.
