Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
I just think it's a terrible idea to not use any of your better pitchers when you're not guaranteed to make the tournament. I just think Harris is flat out not good.

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
This is pathetic. Crap swings off crap itching. The coach doesn't want it and neither do the players. Maybe we get lucky, but we seem to be happy to hope we get in the tournament. Not even trying to finish as high as possible.

They gave him a double on that. Shoot if I had those kind of scorers when I played I would have hit .375 a year.

Glad he didn’t let that bounce foul. It was easily heading to foul ground off the side bounce. No one touched it I don’t think. Whew!!Appmountaineers19 wrote: ↑Thu May 15, 2025 7:54 pmThey gave him a double on that. Shoot if I had those kind of scorers when I played I would have hit .375 a year.

Hypothetical - IF GSU sweeps APP that gives them 12 wins and the tiebreaker - right? Knocks them out of the top 10?

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
Again, how do you not put your best lineup (pitcher) out there when 1. You haven't clinched a spot in the tournament and 2. You still have a chance to move into a bye and avoid the play in games. Sorry, but it has really bugged me the whole night.

Hindsight glad we didn’t waste Wilson or Cross. We still didn’t score enough to win regardless of who pitched.
At least we hopefully aren’t facing their ace tomorrow and we still have ours. We did that last year or two years ago maybe. Let them win the Friday game knowing your ace should beat their 2 or 3.

Something happened @ Marshall or against JMU. Team hasn’t been the same since.

Pitching didn’t beat us tonight. What did us in were a collective 0-for-11 from the meat of our order (Zamora, Miller and Correa) and those three line-drive double plays. All three could have been avoided with just a smidgen more situational awareness.

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
It was the double wammy of poor pitching.. 8 bb’s and 2 hit batters… 10 free baserunners.. can’t give teams that many…. and then the not great situational hitting. No urgency and that’s disappointing. Inept at moving runners, which has been an all-season issue. Their guy did pitch well and mixed up his pitches and had good control.

This team has looked like it was ready for the season to be over for a while.
Injuries have been a factor, but you wonder how much of a role coaching has played in this disastrous finish. Did the team check out on Kermit back in April? Certainly looks that way.

Re: 2025 Baseball Mega Thread
I am sure I see a team quitting. Take the pop up at the pitcher's mound. If not runners are not at full speed, they do not score ...and batter not at 2nd. If quitting, wouldn't we see a half hearted run/jog on the pop up. 7 makes s diving catch in center.
My personal opinion is that we have several young players in the field and opposing coaches are catching up with tendencies at the plate. You couple that with a below average pitching due to injuries, the season results are what they are
If all the young guys come back and we can pick up 3 pitchers in portal with 33 back, feel like we should be middle of the league next year and maybe not fighting the last weekend to even get into the play in game.
